Coming hard on the heels of the Mark Andrews signing Rob Andrew has secured the services of two more internationals, in order to bolster the struggling Falcons.
Warren Britz is a 29 year old openside flanker, who gained his first cap for the Springboks against Wales earlier this season. Britz has also featured in the South African Sevens side. He will be joining Newcastle at the end of December on a two-and-a-half year contract.
Mark Andrews the other Falcons new boy thinks highly of his former Natal Sharks team mate, as Rob Andrew comments:
"Although Warren only has one cap he is typically South African, very big and very athletic. He is a good friend of Mark Andrews and he (Mark) rates him very highly."
Mark Mayerhofler is the second signing confirmed today. Mayerhofler, 30, has played six tests for New Zealand and enjoyed a successful season at the Blues this year. Although Mark played his first NPC rugby for North Harbour, he has also played for Canterbury, NZ Barbarians and the NZ Maoris.
Joining Falcons at the end of the week, Mark Mayerhofler is contracted until the end of the season.
Mark is described by Rob Andrew as a "very talented footballer" who has "plenty of playing experience".
So what do YOU think of Rob's signings? Are they what you expected, or had hoped for? Have your say on the Message Board!
