Trains, planes & automobiles. That pretty much sums up the ways most visitors get to Kingston Park. If you are visiting for the first time, this is a guide to make your journey as enjoyable as possible and we look forward to welcoming you to the home of Newcastle Falcons.
Arriving by plane.
If arriving at Newcastle Airport, by far the best way to get to Kingston Park is on the Metro. The entrance to the Metro station is inside the airport right next to where you emerge from the baggage area. You will need a 2 zone ticket even though you are only going two stops down the line to Bank Foot station. It only takes about 15 minutes for the Metro trip & the walk to Kingston Park. Follow the directions for Metro users below for the short walk.
Arriving by train.
You will arrive at Newcastle Central Station, a magnificent pile of railway era masonry built in 1848, designed by John Dobson & Thomas Prosser. There is a Metro station entrance within the station itself, just follow the signs. It only takes about half an hour for the Metro journey & a short walk so if you have plenty of time to spare you may wish to explore some of the bars near Central Station. Just a 5 minute walk down towards the Quayside will get you to the Crown Posada, a popular & very traditional little pub.
Once you have made your way to the Metro station you will need a 2 zone ticket, a return if heading back into town. Find the next train for Airport and zoom across town, passing the Kingston Park station & get off at the next one which is Bank Foot. See instructions below for Metro users.
Arriving by car.
There is limited parking at the stadium and out of consideration for the local residents, strictly enforced parking restrictions apply on match days covering all streets in the vicinity. There is a large Tesco store nearby and some shops opposite, but the parking for these is limited to 2 hours. The car parks are run by Europark, not the shops themselves, and enforcement is by an automated camera system. Just a short distance from the ground is the Twin Farms pub where on match days you can park, the cost of £10 is redeemable if you buy bar meals there so if you are planning to have a meal anyway this is good value.
If you travel just a short distance up the A696 beyond Kingston Park you can use the Park & Ride facility at Callerton Parkway where parking is free on Sundays or after 5pm, only £1 at other times. Just one stop on the excellent Metro service takes you to Bank Foot and then it is just a short walk to the ground, see below instructions for Metro users.
Your best bet if travelling from afar is to pay the £10 and park at the ground. Best to buy your car parking ticket in advance from our ticket office as they sell out quickly. To get to Kingston Park set your sat nav to NE13 8AF or follow these directions:
You will arrive using the A1. If travelling north take the exit signposted City (North) Gosforth, and turn left at the roundabout onto Kingston Park Road. If travelling south take the exit signposted Kingston Park and turn right onto Kingston Park Road. At the end of this road is a small roundabout, turn left and after a few yards take the next right, you will be able to see the stadium from this junction.
Taking the Bus
If you find yourself in the middle of Newcastle you can make your way to the Monument from where the X47 bus will whisk you over to Kingston Park Shopping Centre in about 20 minutes or so. Buses leave every 10 minutes during the day, then every 20 minutes during the evenings, the last bus leaving Kingston Park Shopping Centre to return you to the city centre at 22.42.
Arriving by Metro.
The best station to use is Bank Foot. Exit the station and turn right, you will see the Twin Farms pub ahead of you where you may wish to break your journey and take refreshments. Unless it is a really foggy day you will see the stadium just a short walk away behind the pub, you really can’t go wrong from here. Turn right opposite the pub, then next left and you are on Brunton Lane which leads to the stadium.
Click here for a guide to the stadium itself, where to stand or sit, how to get tickets, and most importantly, where the bars are.
We do hope you have an enjoyable journey and look forward to your company.
