Looking forward to Glozzer?

As the clock starts to wind down on the career of one Lawrence Bruno Nero Dallaglio, we have Gloucester at home at the start of a vitally important week for Wasps. In the absence of any better material to publish, KevinTheB looks forward to it. You really should have written something better.

A Sunday-Wednesday-Saturday week to look forward to - Gloucester home, Newcastle away, then Leeds away to finish the regular season.

Tickets for the Gloucester game are like gold dust at the moment - the draw of a successful team (best consecutive win record in the league this year) in the aftermath of away wins at Bath and Leicester, coupled with the visit of the League leaders and their band of travelling chanters (Glaws - ter!) who will be looking to try to bring the run to an end makes the game tasty - so Sky decide to show something completely different. Why would anyone want to watch first play third in a game that has so much going on the result for both sides, I wonder.  No. let's go down to Bath where they're hosting ... er ... Saracens, that well known television draw.  Ridiculous.  Anyway, I'm hoping "The Curse of Adams Park" continues for Gloucester and that they go back down the M4 for one last time, sobbing into their cider about the injustice of the referee failing to penalise Dallaglio for preventing the release of their quick ball.  After all, it would be a shame to break with tradition.

Wednesday night sees the boys off to Newcastle.  Now this has been a banana skin on a number of occasions. I think that something should be done to bring Newcastle 100 miles closer - after all, they have a significant home advantage in that they are playing their rugby abroad and should move their ground back into England to put them on an equal footing with the rest of us. It seems that "The Curse Of Andrew" still lives over that team, the days of the Winning Chequebook seem to have deserted them, but despite this, I feel this is the difficult game of the three.  I'm sure the die-hard travellers in the Wasps Suppporters Club will get along - I've never been to Newcastle myself, not having been in a position to get myself there ever, but people I know have been, and say it's a lovely place.  Has anyone else seen Al Murray's "Toon Whale Song"?

Finally, we end the season up in Leeds.  I have a weekend of from paternal duties that weekend, and have booked my ticket, so I shall be there to see LBND's last regular season game in the black and gold.  I suspect it will be an emotional afternoon - Leeds are already down but will want to put on one more show for their home support, while we could be going there for a 5-pointer to take us to the top of the regular season table. In theory it should be a pushover for us, but people play on their emotions on a time like this, and I think this is a hard game to call - other than I expect us to get the 5 points.

I'm going to stick my neck out again, and hope for 13 points out of the week.  I think we can do it, I'm sure Shaun thinks we can do it, and the potential of bringing someone back to Adams Park for a home semi final to give LBND a true Wasps-style Twickenham day out for his very very last competitive game will make the team desperately want to do it.  All we need to do is to wrap all the props in cotton wool and hope they get through will nothing more than bruising.
