Red Bull Racing Friday Practice Views
By Ian Lockwood
October 17 2008
Red Bull Racing driver views from the opening practice sessions for the penultimate round of the 2008 Formula One World Championship. Shanghai has two long straights and sixteen corners of varying types. Heavy braking, extreme lateral loads and high demands on traction are just some of the factors that the drivers encounter at the highly technical and challenging Shanghai International Circuit.

Car 10 MARK WEBBER, 1st Practice P11, 2nd Practice P5

"We did quite a few laps today, it was a good day of running. The track's in reasonable shape already, as I think the GP2 cars did some running here last week, so we could start straight away with checking the car's balance. The car ran faultlessly all day, so I'm looking forward to tomorrow."

Car 9 DAVID COULTHARD, 1st Practice P14 2nd Practice P14

"Generally, it feels like the balance itself isn't so extreme, but that rear traction stability is the main issue, I think that's got a lot to do with the nature of the track here though. Regarding overall load, we just don't seem to be generating a lot of grip."

I notice DC is still in Chassis 3... I thought he said it will definitely be a new chassis after his crash last race???

On the other hand, nice time we set. 5th... Fingers crossed, the boys seem to be ahead of the setup game for once.

we were 2nd and 4th in the speed trap that session, which means we still can get some more wing for more grip and quicker laptimes! DC complaining of very poor traction from his RB4, Mark pretty happy with his setup already it seems

DC had Chassis 4 last race Mark has No. 5, so DC's gone back to No.3 - which isn't really a new Chasis....anyway - hoping things go better today. Balance looks good for MW - hopefully DC makes a couple of changes today that work.
