Latest Calvisano News

Calvisano lies in the region of Lombardy. Click here for a map of the region. Our travel agent in Italy gives us the information that Calvisano is a town with 5000 inhabitants - so the arrival of the Drunken Wasps will give a 10% boost to the population immediately (careful, matron) plus much more in turns of economic turnover!

A more realistic base for the Drunken Wasps' own brand of weekend fun would appear on second sight to be Brescia. This town is a short ride to the North East of Calvisano, and the DWs would provide transport to the match via a local establishment or two, with a collect and return a few hours after kick off. Information on Brescia can be found on the Brescia Tourist Info Page. There are onward links here for "Skying" and local wines, both of which get the thumbs up from Gurney.

Food and drink always feature prominently in Drunken Wasps' ventures. We aim to try to get something of a local flavour while we are away - after all, there's no point going to Italy and getting a pizza, right? (What, pizzas come from Italy? Thought they were American? Oh, the great Italian diaspora of the early 1900s took them to the New World, did they? Blimey!) OK, so we might get a pizza.

More likely we'll organize a four course lunch with wines at a local restaurant, timed to fill the gap between the tour of the vinyard and the kick off. To get you in the mood, here's a page dedicated to dining and drinking in Brescia

Here's another page, concentrating more on the wines of the Lombardy region

I have been told that the local liquer is Amaretto di Saronno - Blazin' Amarettos, Deb!

For those of you who might want to do it yourselves, here's how some of the Lezzer boys did it.
