Ojo Thanks Club and Country for Call Up

England and London Irish right wing, Topsy Ojo thanked his Guinness Premiership club London Irish and England after being called up for his senior debut this Saturday when England play New Zealand at Eden Park. Kick off 8.35am (UK), 7.35pm (New Zealand), live on Sky Sports.

Ojo, who made a try scoring appearance in the Heineken Cup semi-final for London Irish this season at Twickenham, has represented Kent U18, Kent Schools and England at U18, U19, 21, Sevens and Saxons level.

He said today at England’s base in Auckland; “Rob Andrew told everyone in the squad about my call up to start against New Zealand when we were in a squad huddle just before training. They all applauded and I felt fantastic and delighted to be picked. To play against New Zealand is very special.

Tottenham born Ojo who also represented London and the South-East at U16 and U18 level added “The first person I told about my news was my brother and he was thrilled with the fact that I would be starting against the All Blacks.

“I’ve had a lot of help and support over the years to help me get where I am today and I’d like to thank Conor O’ Shea, Brian Smith, Corin Palmer, Toby Booth and Catty (Mike Catt). There is a really good style of rugby being played at London Irish. We’re playing good rugby and more instinctively. The club is looking forward and the direction we are going in is good.”
