Thanks for the memories is drawing to a close for this season. The penultimtate leaver isn't, thankfully, leaving Irish but he's calling a close a fantastic playing career. Mr London Irish - Declan Danaher.

It is not possible to sum up Declan’s playing career in a few short sentences, so hopefully those of you who are better with words than I am will add plenty of comments.
A few stats – joined in 1999, made 275 appearances and scored 23 tries, has represented Ireland at U19 level, Irish Exiles at U19 and U21, England at U21 and A, and has also played for the Barbarians.
Thanks Declan for your many years of service as a London Irish player, we all look forward to many more years as a coach.

Declan rather personifies my support of London Irish. He was an aspiring youngster when I started watching and soon became a favourite of mine. He never took a backward step and gave absolutely everything every time.

One memory I have of him was actually playing for an England U21 team against France at Newbury. With a line-out just in-front of us we got to see Dec looking menacingly and pointing directly at the French 10. Once the ball was in Dec was off, following the line he pointed straight at the poor chap who was more than put-off by the intent. Awesome stuff and an object lesson that the forwards don't really play with the ball so much.

So glad he's in our coaching set-up, I hope to see Dec and the Danaher family at Irish for many, many years to come.

One of my favourite London Irish tries has to be his vs Gloucester a few years ago when he gathered a loose ball and ran in from 60 meters in the last playn for the bonus point score.

Who can forget the try vs Perpignan too!
