By GTD
June 20 2005

One of our 2005 summer series is a supporters 'If you could', the second 'volunteer' is one of my co-eds, Griff. Throughout the off season we plan to learn a little bit more about many of our 'Usual Suspects'

If you could............. Graeme Griffiths - Griff
Relive any 'non-sports related' moment in your life, what would it be and why?

Although it’s a desperately sad thing to say, Andrea and my wedding day was tops, just about the perfect day. I’d definitely do that one again, in fact we just might one of these days…

Enjoy a 'champagne moment' again in your career which one would it be and why?

As a software Engineer in the Video Equipment field it is a bit difficult to explain the successes, working in California at 22 was a giggle though.

Enjoy a 'champagne moment' again in sport which one would it be and why?

Without a doubt the 2002 Powergen cup final, just fantastic.

Not be asked one question for the rest of your life what would it be? Can you fix my computer, its doing funny things…
Be a celebrity for the day who would you be? Any frontman, I’d love to feel what its like to play to a huge stadium/arena. James Hetfield (Metallica), for example, would be a giggle.
Be a sports star for the day who would it be? While I’m in awe of all pro sportsmen or women I’m not convinced I’d want to be one. Far too much like hard work, if its just for the day then any of the England rugby team – so long as it’s a playing day not a training day.
Have dinner with 4 people from the past or present who would they be? Alan Turing, Richard Dawkins, Bill Hicks and Frank Zappa.
Witness one event from history what would it be? The VE-day party.
Go back in time and give advice to a 13 year old Graeme Griffiths what would it be? Life is far too short, do everything NOW, bored is such a waste.
Win any sporting event in the world what would it be? It’d have to be worth winning – something like the Florida Iron Man.
Try out a new sport what would it be? I’ve always fancied sky-diving but never got round to it.
Have one extravagance what would it be? A private tropical island.
Only ever eat one meal again what would it be? Got to be curry – Chicken Karahai probably.
Live anywhere else in the world where would it be? I’ve lived elsewhere – here is much better IMHO.
Support any other Rugby Club which would it be and why? I’ll stick with our lot, I like a lot of the others but they’ll never be us.
Tell us a claim to fame what would it be? Had it not been for me Star Wars – Attack of the Clones would have been very, very late – George never did say “thanks”. No, it’s not really a good claim, is it?
See into the future what do you expect to be doing in 10 years time?

Comfortably off, probably doing something to still keep my hand in and me relatively sane but mostly travelling and watching sport with my wife.

Only ever drink one drink again what would it be? Scrumpy Jack.
Do any other job other than your current one what would it be? If I wanted to do something else I’d be doing it.
Change one thing about yourself what would it be?

Ah for the gift of tact…

Buy one player from past or present to play in London Irish colours who would it be? I always loved JPR Williams, top bloke and an asset to any team.
