One Over Sarries

Saracens, hard luck.

As you guys left to do this myself I'm not too keen to write a very detailed report. So here it is, done without notes so bear with me:
We won.

Want more detail ?

It was bloody cold, even snowed a bit during the match.

Job done.

Oh alright here's what happened.

Early doors the forwards tested each other while the backs tried not to drop the pill. The initial traffic was all Sarries but our tight five soon pulled themselves together and Sarries didn't really get another look in up front until we made a lot of substitutions towards the end of the match.

We got first blood through Mr Everitt's mighty boot after which we swapped penalties. With the forwards dominating we forced Sarries to defend very hard but it was bound to break and Mike Horak ran in a fine try froma swift pass from (I think) Paul Hodson.

Barry added to the home support's pain with a mighty drop-goal.

Sarries managed a consolation penalty but we went in 14 - 6 up.

An early penalty stretched the Irish lead in the second half after which we did the same old trick of switching off and letting the opposition come back at us. To be fair Kyran Bracken coming on turned Sarries into a very different proposition (Taine Randell was a pretty handy substitution too). Slowly the home side edged their way back. A fine try by Hamish someone (sorry, I did say I didn't take notes), converted by our friend Mr Jackson brought the home side to within one point and a late penalty (3 minutes left on the stadium game-clock) made us think it was going to be same-old-story but the boys did, eventually, do us proud.

They lept on the restart and forced Sarries back, just as we were ready for the drop-goal attempt they killed the ball leaving us 15 seconds on the clock and Barry to kick a tricky penalty to win the match. The boy done good and we jumped about like eejits.

Saracens 19 - 20 Irish .

To my mind it would have been harsh for us to lose so the result is a good one but you have to wonder about yet another match where we went ahead and then let them come back at us. My MotM was Paul Hodgson for some awesome covering tackles, the forwards did a fine job too.

Apologies for the brief report, I may get enough time to do a better one later but probably not. This site is by the supporters for the supporters, please volunteer to write the reports or they'll all be as rubbish as this one.
