Quins Ladies Victorious over Venus
By Tanya W September 17 2007
The Ladies imposed their authority on the game immediately from the kick off, with the forwards controlling the breakdowns and recycling the ball well. The first try came after 5 minutes as captain Kate Sinfield made a break from the base of the ruck, offloading to centre Ellie Saunders to touch down.

Quins Ladies maintained pressure at the set-piece and were rewarded as Kyra Howell snapped up a loose line-out ball, powering through the scattered Millwall defence to score.

Quins Ladies contest the line-out

Although Millwall continued to battle on valiantly, the first half saw Quins Ladies run in three more tries. Half-time score Millwall Venus 0 – Harlequin Ladies 21.

The Ladies kept up the relentless onslaught during the second half, scoring a further five tries. However, Millwall remained defiant to the end and were finally rewarded as fly –half, Dee McDonald broke through the Quins defence and powered down the wing for a last minute try.

Final Score: Millwall Venus 5 – Harlequin Ladies 58.

Next week the Ladies commence their league campaign, facing old adversaries Hove at Roehampton Vale, KO 2.30pm.
