Uxbridge RFC were looking to give HarlequinAmateurs a tough game and jump up the league table at the Amateurs home ground.
Both teams made it clear from the kickoff that this was going to be a physical battle with some big hits coming infrom both teams early doors. Uxbridge showed good strength up front withconstant pressure around the fringes and some good line out work.
However when Amateurs gained possessionit was clear that they were looking to run it. With some good interlinking playfrom the back row James Loizos managed to scurry over in the corner to open upthe scoring. Uxbridge hit back, again with some good work from the forwards tomaul the ball over the line from a well worked lineout. Amateurs promptlyreplied with some quick handling skills in the backs to send Nick Marrenstorming over in the corner.
In the second half the Amateurs sidestarted to move the ball around and with some gruelling work from the forwardsgave the backs another chance to get on the score sheet though Nick Marren andJames Hodgeson. Uxbridge again came back with constant pick and go's from theforwards, however the Amateurs defence held strong with some excellent workfrom man of the match Chris Payne. As the Uxbrige side tired, Amateurs capitalisedwith a well worked try that gave Emit Murphy the chance to go over in the centres.
Another strong performance from this Amateursside. Next up is the HAC which will be a hugely important battle for both sidesin the league.
