Kilburn Cosmos 10 - Harlequin Amateurs 15
By Charlie Allen
December 12 2008
Harlequins travelled to Kilburn to face a side struggling towards the bottom of Herts Middlesex 1. It took one look at the pitch to realise this wasn't going to be a classic, as the match was to be played on mud bowl more accustomed to dog walking than free flowing rugby.

Early on Quins took asimple lead, as their forwards rolled on to within the Kilburn 22, and RickBraithwaite's long pass provided an overlap out wide. Quins scored in thecorner to provide an early 5 points but couldn't convert.

Under pressure back intheir own half, Quins capitalised on scrappy ball from a scrum to allow wingturned flanker Adam Wallace to break from deep. The Ams back line took on thelength of the pitch to score under the posts. Kilburn pegged Quins back with apenalty to trail 3 - 12 at half time.

The second half soonbecame bogged down in the mud, with little to speak of for either team. RickBraithwaite converted a penalty attempt before Kilburn were let in for a trythrough poor try line tackling.

The game finished withHarlequins taking yet another close win, 15-10, to leave them two points offthe top of the league.
