HOPEHIV: Quins' Charity Partner
By Lindsay Palmier
June 7 2009
Next weekend sees the Quinssa summer party at Richmond (see link at the bottom for details), at the do there will be a raffle in aid of HOPEHIV, Lindsay Palmier gives us the background of this very worthy charity. If you are not attending the Quinssa Summer Party then you can find out ways of supporting HOPEHIV below too.

In September 2008, an exciting two year partnership was launched between Harlequins and HOPEHIV. Former Harlequins and Springbok captain André Vos is heading up the partnership, inspiring players, staff, sponsors and supporters to get involved. Harlequins is raising money to support economic empowerment projects, such as Valuable Girls in Zambia, Aids Care and Education Trust in Northern Uganda and Malawi Consol Homes.

About HOPEHIV

HOPEHIV is about the generation of hope, supporting children and young people in sub-Saharan Africa who have been orphaned or affected by HIV/AIDS. Instead of dismissing these young people as victims, HOPEHIV believe that, given the opportunity, they have the potential to make Africa’s future one of hope, rather than despair

HOPEHIV’s work generates real hope through their work in emotional and social support, education, economic empowerment, and child rights. Their UK office is building a network to support community-based projects in Africa. Those projects are selected and monitored by a team in South Africa and Tanzania. At present, HOPEHIV is helping some 50,000 vulnerable children and young people though 40 partner organisations in 400 communities in sub-Saharan Africa.

HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED?

Here’s two simple things you can do today that will help make Quins partnership with HOPEHIV a success:

  1. Make a donation to HOPEHIV, either as a one-off gift, or by setting up a monthly Direct Debit.
