Before moving to England he played for Auckland in the NPC and for Auckland Blues in the Super 12s, he also had foray into rugby league when he played for the Brisbane Broncos

He has been named at wing in the 2003 Samoan mid year touring squad but hasn’t yet played for them as he was still in contract negotiations.

George can play either at centre or wing and he is renowned for his powerful play where he always seems to break the gain line. He was a great fans’ favourite at Leeds where phrases such as ‘awesome’, ‘easily the Tykes' most dangerous player over the past two months’, ‘the most dangerous player on show ‘, ‘George is a big fellow and knows his way to the try-line’, ‘Samoan giant George Harder’ and ‘yet more aggressive approach work by the tireless Harder’ have been bandied about liberally.

Harder had some time out with a badly bruised sternum which needed surgery around Christmas time and this coincided with Leeds’ dip in form, they seemed to miss his uncompromising defence and direct and aggressive running.

The idea of young speedster Ugo Monye on one wing and powerful runner George Harder on the other with and equally powerful runner at fullback in Taumalolo is a very exciting prospect. Not forgetting the likes of Matty Moore’s mazy runs too.

Let’s hope that he enjoys his time at The Stoop and he scores the tries that we know he is capable of.
