Matt Henjak is the nephew of former rugby league player Ivan Henjak, he war born in Queanbeyan, NSW in 1981 and he went to the same school as Matt Giteau and George Gregan, St Edmunds College, Canberra.
He has acted as George Gregan's understudy at the Super 12 outfit the ACT Brumbies and when Elton Flatley broke his arm in the summer Henjak was called up to the Australian squad as cover. He won his first cap in the 51-15 trouncing of England when he came on to replace the injured Rathbone on the wing with ten minutes to go. He came on as wing because Australia only had two back replacements on the bench.
As well as helping the ACT Brumbies win the 2004 Super 12 title he also previously helped the Canberra Vikings to three premierships in the Brisbane Premier Rugby competition and was voted the player of the Grand Final for two years in a row. He has a fast pass and is exciting runner too, he'll undoubtedly make a good addition to the Quins squad even though he is only with us for a short time. It is unlikely that he will sign a longer contract because he has been named in the Brumbies 2005 squad and he is being groomed to be the replacement for Gregan in the number nine jersey when Gregan retires.
He will join Quins after completing his duties with Canberra in the Tooheys Cup in Australia and will be at the club until 19th December 2004.
