The other new arrival is Lorne Ward, a tighthead prop who has joined NEC Harlequins from local rivals London Welsh.

Ward is a big lad standing 6'1" (1.85m) and weighing in at 18st9lb (119kg) and he is renown as one of the best scrummagers in National Division 1.

The 28 year old South African has previously played for London Welsh and Watsonians as well as Martizburg University College Rovers and Natal A in South Africa.

Lorne will add some extra bulk to the pack in front of Kevin Burke, who also joined from London Welsh.

With tighthead being the last position in the squad where more cover was needed it certainly looks like Quins now have the squad in place to make a push to get them back into the Premiership.
