Harlequin Ladies Calendars Fly Off The Shelves
By Mel Antao November 25 2005
Harlequin Ladies hosted the launch of their inaugural 2006 fundraising calendar on the evening of Wednesday 23 November 2005 at the Twickenham Stoop Stadium.

The 5000 people that attended the launch were given an added treat as NEC Harlequins showed their support for the girls by putting on a friendly match against Manu Samoa.

The A3 calendars contain 13 stunning black and white photographs of the Harlequin Ladies in various guises at the Twickenham Stoop, complemented by off the wall captions.  Proceeds from the calendar will not only benefit charities such as the Richard Langhorn Trust, but will also help raise valuable funds to supplement the Ladies core activity and pay for coaches and minibuses to away games.

Calendars have been flying off the shelves with pre-orders nearing 200 and over 100 sold on the night of the launch alone.  Even England Coach Andy Robinson was allegedly seen queuing up for one!

Cally Hocknell, who co-ordinated the calendar, commented "The interest generated in these calendars has been phenomenal.  People have been very excited about the prospect of Harlequin Ladies as you have never seen them before.  The consensus has been that the calendar is very refreshing; to integrate  a bit of humour, sauciness and glamour into 12 months means the calendar appeals to all.  We even had a queue for autographs at the launch!

Thank you to everyone who has helped in the making of the calendar and thank you to everyone who has purchased a copy so far...we hope you enjoy it!"
