SAINTS BACK IN THE BIG TIME!
NORTHAMPTON SAINTS 18 - 8 EXETER CHIEFS
Forty seven weeks after Saints tasted the bitterness of relegation from the top flight of English domestic rugby, they today secured a return to the Promised Land – The Guinness Premiership. The win over Exeter makes it 30 on the bounce in all competitions for Saints and, with trip to Twickenham still to come, the future looks very bright indeed!
Two first half tries from Man of the Match Dylan Hartley and one just before the break from Paul Diggin were enough to see off a committed Exeter Chiefs team and make promotion secure, four weeks before the end of the season. The inclement weather made it a case of Four Seasons in One Day throughout the match as kicking became something of a lottery for both teams but as Mr Garner called “no-side” there were scenes of wild celebration both on and off the pitch. Job done!A full match report will appear on ComeOnYouSaints.com tomorrow. In the meanwhile, why not check out our messageboard to see pictures from the match as the snappers publish their efforts and also read what the supporters are saying as they return home triumphant!
Whilst promotion is secured, the coaches will be desperate to end the season unbeaten on all fronts. Make sure you are there to cheer them on!
