There is another potential debutant on the bench in the form of South Africa international scrum-half Cobus Reinach, while George North and Teimana Harrison come into the team for their first Aviva Premiership action of the season.

Tom Wood misses the game with a bang to the shoulder.

thought Ribbans was decent when he came on last week, I guess he might be injured... Day has been good for us, but I feel last year he was a bit on the slow side...
would have preferred to see Lawes and Patterson (if Ribbans injured) and Ludlam keep his place in the team.

Much better back line, hoping to see reinach come on... but otherwise with injuries quite decent back line, hope Burrel has a good game is due one...

Assume its injuries (although Dickins did say apart from Myler, Mitch and Piers we were all available)

Hope Grayson gets more time this week..

Good to see Tei back. Harry at 10 hmmm. So thats an invitation were one needed to target his chanel all day long. Not filling me with confidence at all.

If Luther rumbles and Harry steps up then that backline could be quite exciting.

Quite clearly targeting their line out. A fresh T on a Saturday afternoon - yes please.

Patterson never lets us down. Some of his unsung work around the ruck is what we're missing.

Lawes at 6 is an interesting choice - he looks more mobile these days and his hitting power will be vital against Tigers

The line out was a real weakness for tigers last week so Lawes shifting to 6, the introduction of Gibson into the 15 and still being able to accommodate Day and Patterson shows where we are targeting. Plus Lawes will be after Ford and Youngs. We need a big pack.

Not surprised about the changes in the backs and our bench is stronger than last weeks.

Decent side with what's available. Ford Robinson for at least a bench spot though? Props need a switch around in my opinion, same two names on sheet and branch almost every week when they are hardly delivering great levels

Assume Woody and Ribbans injured. Remember Paterson was a standout lock for Sale a couple of years ago.... the rest as expected.

Please tackle Harry, just get something on them.... if that channel is secure and scrums ok like last week then we win....

Think we could've maybe justified Api in at 2nd row over Paterson. Could've used Api's pure bulk for the big pack face off which I think it will be. Would be strange for Ribbans to be dropped if he is fit- didn't do much wrong from the bench?

Tom Vickers suggesting Wood has a shoulder injury so makes sense, although I'd have gone Ludlam at 7 and Gibson on bench.

Like the look of the backs line a lot. Harry an obvious weakness at 10 but I guess it was too much to ask to throw Grayson in this early.

at least Harry's opposite number is tiny!

Toomua and Smith are a bit tasty, mind, so our midfield need to be on it from the start tomorrow.

I didn't watch all of the Leicester bath game but tom Young's seemed to really struggle getting the ball either straight, or to his jumpers from the lineouts I saw. More of the same tomorrow please sir!

Matt Smith back at the Gardens? hope Dyls keeps his elbows in check.

Significantly better backs on paper than last week. Hope that they gel.

Once Francis comes back, you'd have to think that Burrell's day are all but numbered.

All I want to see is a better performance than last week, we are at home, minimal injury list and hurting from the Sarries game. We should get a good 80 Minutes of hard work.

There is absolutely no reason why we shouldn't win this one and get everyone back on side.

Our season starts tomorrow, we can put last week down to an extended pre season.

I looked at the stats and Harry looks really bad, but little Austin had some interesting words in today's DT

"There was a complete absence of intensity or workrate from the forwards, particularly in the first half. A symptom of that was Harry Mallinder often defending at guard or bodyguard where he got caught looking at the ruck rather than scanning what was in front of him. Mallinder should not really be there but he is there because he has got a high work rate and the front five have not got themselves into position. He will get criticised for missing tackles, but at least he made the effort to get there in the first place."

Seems reasonable to me, and Austin occasionally gets it right. His piece today was quite balanced for an ex-Tiger.

Ludlam was one our few shining spots last week. No idea why he's been dropped unless two games at this level back to back is too much at the moment.

I don't think Alex Waller will ever get dropped.

Interested to see Horne in. Would have preferred Harry at 12 and Grayson or Hutch at 10.

For all his WUMmery I think LTA is actually one of the most informative and insightful pundits around. He adds genuine value as an ex-pro and tells me things I don't know about the game.

Can understand not wanting to throw a newbie in to the derby but I'd like to see Ford-Robinson in the 23 soon - he's one of the signings I'm really excited about.

George Ford concedes more yardage after the tackle than any other player in the whole league.Courtney must be kept in a cage eating only raw meat and being told Ford says he's a wuss. Only joking Corts!
I think we have a very good chance of winning tmr. If the lads try.

@#$%& - hate to agree with AH but he has a point.
Do you remember when Samu Manoa was stopping oppo in their tracks and forcing them backwards at a rate of notts
It inspired the rest of the team
Unfortunately, and I hope I am proved wrong, when I look at our scrum No. 1 / 3 / 4 / 5 and 7 have question marks over them regarding intensity, speed, stamina, dynamism I think they want to do it but just don't seem able at present.
Is it fitness is it in the mind is it just old legs.
When I called for change on a previous thread it was knocked back as 'our scrum went well'
That's only a small amount of a forward's input into the game.
Bath beat Tigers last week by stopping them on the game line then forcing them back
Unless we repeat that intensity and do what we did with Sarries and allow them to punch holes at will
It could be a long afternoon.
T is a 7 !!

just a thought but if Myler and Piers are out for a "long time" do we get injury dispensation to replace with a temp? Of course, You'd have to find one available but maybe we could get cover for a few months?

That's all fine from Austin but it's over analysis of Harry. He doesn't have very good technique one-on-one, gets head caught often, doesn't put weight forward into it etc, clearly injuries for a young lad haven't helped mentally. He may have been in position x or y for whatever reason but he needs to drastically improve basic tackling.

Thank the lord manu isn't playing....

Harry shouldn't be the player defending in positions he finds himself - would Myler ; never

Fair enough. On the flip side I hear back rowers complain last year that they had to basically cover that porous channel which ballsed up the entire defensive unit. Especially when he played 12, flankers were running marathons each game!

Hopefully Aussie Rob has passed on some guidance already. I think he's going to be huge for us....
