Director of Rugby Chris Boyd has made ten changes to his Northampton Saints side that will face Dragons in round three of the European Challenge Cup this weekend.

Wales international Dan Biggar remains within a much-changed Northampton backline, and partners scrum-half Alex Mitchell who makes his first start in four matches.

Taqele Naiyaravoro is retained on the wing, but otherwise it’s all change for Saints with Luther Burrell coming into the No.12 jersey and Rory Hutchinson named at outside centre for the first time this term after fully recovering from a knee injury sustained in preseason.

Meanwhile Academy players Ollie Sleightholme and George Furbank are both selected to make their European debuts and complete the back three.

Prop Alex Waller captains the side with James Fish coming in at hooker and Ben Franks rounding off the front row.

Api Ratuniyarawa and Alex Moon will provide the grunt in Saints’ engine room, and Tom Wood is recalled at openside flanker to join Jamie Gibson and Teimana Harrison at the base of the scrum.

Amongst the replacements Will Davis and Fraser Strachan are in line for European debuts if they come off the bench, while Ehren Painter returns to the matchday squad for the first time since October.

Good team. Hopefully should get us back to winning ways.

On a slight aside, how many weeks has Henrich Brüssow been out of action with concussion? I am beginning to get a little worried for him.

I would have liked to have seen Eadie getting a start in a game like this - perhaps resting/protecting Harrison.
Good side and stronger than I expected

Something must be up with Eadie. Neither the old or the new management rate him. Is it ability or attitude? I think the sooner both sides cut their losses the better.

I agree completely on the Brussow issue, it's very worrying.

One other point to note is the return of the much maligned Wood/Gibson back row partnership. It will be interesting to see how they fare under new management.

Don't mind that team.

Good to see Hutch back, and Painter on the bench. Does Furbank cover fly half in absence of Grayson and Francis then?

Agree about Heinz. Our back row is due a broad overhaul at some stage soon. I don't necessarily see the benefit of keeping Heinz, Haskell, Edie or Wood next season when we can bring in some younger, hungrier, and might I dare say, reliable players. Sounds harsh because there have been injuries to them, but I'd rather see some fresh blood in the backrow - wonder how they rate Paddy Ryan.

I wouldnt mind keeping One of those old back rowers. Its good to have some experience in the squad but Heinz/Haskell/Wood probably add up to 500K. Lot of money to sit in the shed.

Heinz and Haskell won't be there next season so that will free up some dosh for a top class 8.
