Only 231 were in attendance as South Wales Scorpions suffered a bitterly-disappointing 34-0 home defeat at the hands of Whitehaven. This was the first time the club has been nilled in its 52-game history and highlights the increasingly difficult campaign the Neath-based club are facing.
Despite a hugely poor start to the new season, the Scorpions' attacking play has been one issue to give fans some minor cause for optimism.
However, for the first time in the club's 52-game history, Dave Clark's side failed to register a single point on the weekend as they suffered a dismal 34-0 defeat at the hands of Whithaven.
Only 231 were at the Gnoll as the visiting side racked up six tries, including a hat-trick from Carl Sice. The deficit was 12 points at the half-time interval.
The result leaves the Scorpions eighth in the table, already 8 points behind the promotion spots. A narrow away win at rock bottom Gateshead remains the only winning highlight of a very poor league campaign so far, though the Scops remain above North Wales Crusaders on points difference.
