Wuss V Tiggers Preview
By Lindsay Clayton
March 22 2010

So we start the end run of matches that will decide the league The Warriors will be playing next season. The Warriors need to find a level of play that has been mostly missing from Sixways, one that wins matches on a consistent basis.

We will be witness to, possibly, the final contest between 2 of the most notable full backs ever to grace a rugby pitch. Chris Latham will leave The Warriors at the end of the season, much to the distress on many a Wuss fan which in all probability means that Sixways will be the scene of the last contest of two great Full Backs. Geordan Murphy has a habit of leaving spectators with their mouths agape, breathless at his ability to turn defence into attack from most anywhere on the pitch. Whether it be in the green of Ireland or Leicester Tigers, when he gets the ball I get a real sinking feeling as you never know what will come next apart from... he will cause damage!

At the other end of the pitch on Saturday afternoon is Worcester’s legendary Aussie full back, Chris Latham, who is many rugby experts best ever full back, his counter attacking skills are of epic proportions. Again a full back the opposition hate to have to deal with. He has all the skills one could want in a 15, superb under a high ball, great positioning, a monster boot, tackles hard and just loves to run a ball back at the on rushing opposition.

Woe betides any player kicking waywardly into the arms of either legend as it will be returned with interest, either in hand or boot.

With Tigers back up to full strength after the Six Nations, they have a formidable array of talent to chose from, Geordan may not even get a game with his shirt being ably filled by Scott Hamilton of late. From their last starting 15 against London Irish, Geordan Murphy, Scott Hamilton, Lote Tuqiri, Anthony Allen, Alesana Tuilagi, Toby Flood, Ben Youngs, Marcos Ayerza, Mefin Davies,Martin Castrogiovanni, Calum Green, Geoff Parling, Craig Newby, Ben Woods, and Jordan Crane, Tigers have several players who must have something to add to an already impressive line up. Lewis Moody, Louis Deacon, and Dan Cole, to name just the returning England players, in fact Tigers can such an impressive squad it’s hard to say who will start this Saturday!

Didn't Geordan Murphy go off injured quite early in the Ireland game on Saturday?

Go on Geordan, have a week off!
