Last hurrah!

The last game of the 2016/17 Championship season takes place tomorrow night at the Madjeski Stadium in Reading. Not only is it the second leg of the play-off final but it is the last time that some very talented young men will wear the Yorkshire Carnegie shirt.....

Despite the fact that the Carnegie lads go into the second leg with an eleven point deficit there is an air of defiance in the squad. In the first leg it was a few mistakes and the metronomic boot of Tommy Bell that gave the visitors a lead to carry over to this week's return. Both sides scored two tries. We scored one absolute belter which left me feeling that Jonah Holmes will find his feet in the Prem next season without too much trouble.

In his last team selection Bryan Redpath has made two changes. Mike Myerscough comes in for Ben West and Mike Cusack starts with Silone Faletau dropping to the bench. It is definitely the last appearance for Buzz and Lewis Boyce. Other players whereabouts next season have still to be confirmed which remains a sore point. However i am sure that all 23 players will give it their all tomorrow night and do us proud.

The first half tactics from last week without gifting Irish points could see a shock result by the end of 80 minutes. Whether that will be enough to overturn the deficit remains to be seen. Needless to say anything is possible when we are involved.

C'mon Tykes!
