Carnegie Team

Chris Stirling has made five changes to his team to play London Irish in the semi final of the RFU Championship Cup this Sunday at the Madejski Stadium. Myles Throroughgood is set to make his fifth appearance for the club and starts on the wing in place of Jacob Umaga, who has returned to Wasps. The rest of the changes come in the forwards. Marc Thomas returns after missing last week’s defeat to Jersey with a calf injury and replaces Nic Mayhew. Dylan Donnellan and Sam Nixon both come into the starting line up after making appearances from the bench last week, they replace Joe Buckle, who is a replacement and Andy Forster, who has picked up a knee injury. Cian Romaine who was ruled out last week with a knee injury comes back into the team with Fa’atiga Lemalu unavailable due to a dislocated finger. Andy Forsyth has picked up a calf injury so is unavailable for selection, but Craig Mitchell returns on the bench having missed last week through HIA protocol. Other injuries include Harry Davey (Hamstring), Ewan McQuillin (foot), James Thraves (shoulder) and Jake Ilnicki (knee), Brendan Cope (ACL). Carnegie face Irish for the second time this season, having played each other once in the league back in October. Stirling’s side earned their spot in the semi-final after a 38-14 win over Bedford. In the group stages Carnegie lost just one game, the same record as Irish, who were defeated by Cornish Pirates before they booked their spot in the semi with a 27-17 win over Coventry.
