Pretty strong team again

Bristol Bears team to face London Irish at Ashton Gate on Sunday, October 6th (3pm KO):

15. Mat Protheroe; 14. Toby Fricker, 13. Piers O’Conor, 12. Will Hurrell, 11. Luke Daniels; 10. Tiff Eden, 9. Andy Uren; 1. Jake Woolmore, 2. Harry Thacker, 3. John Afoa (c), 4. Ed Holmes, 5. Aly Muldowney, 6. Joe Joyce, 7. Dan Thomas, 8. Nathan Hughes.

Replacements: 16. Shaun Malton, 17. Yann Thomas, 18. Max Lahiff, 19. John Hawkins, 20. Jake Heenan, 21. Harry Randall, 22. Callum Sheedy, 23. Charlie Powell.

I hope the injury news on Morahan and Piutau is accurate as we look a bit light on the wings for me and despite having decent cover in Protheroe and Daniels, Piutau is the game changer.

1) Good to see Ross McMillan at hooker for Irish.
2) Pat Lam has stated that he hopes Morahan and C. Piutau are fit for the Bath game. Surely they need a game or two beforehand?

Irish setting a world record for players with double-barrelled names

I thought the same about Morahan and Piutau, seems a big risk to put them straight in with no pre-season especially for a local derby.

Interesting to see Joe Joyce in the back row. Still no sign of Johnson-Fisher, either nowhere near the expected standard or saving him to unleash him on Bath

To be fair, I would imagine we are not seeing him precisely because he is EXACTLY at the expected standard for a good athlete who has been playing a completely different sport for several years.

Not really sure why there is such a spotlight on him. The new fans podcast spent an inordinate amount of time discussing him too.

He is a low risk (and presumably low cost)/ high-upside punt, nothing more.

Previous interviews have suggested that morahan and piutau wouldn't feature prior to the bath game
