Someone has posted the below message on Facebook about Will Hurrell

Really hope he can fully recover from this.

Update on will .So many friends have asked and I seem to have missed quite a few. Not waving the news around but Willís head injury on the 4th was a damaged artery and heís had a stroke. The damage is still in the brain on the last mri and the consultant said it could still be there in 10 years. Main problems are memory (atrocious), headaches and speech, when tired. Heís ok. Seeing another specialist on 26th.

I wish Will and his family all the very best and I hope that he makes a full recovery - but that doesn't sound like a very official update, so I hope that news isn't coming out that is with the full agreement of Will and his loved ones.

Take care of yourself Will. It must be a difficult time and a lot to come to terms with. Having a new baby has its own challenges that I donít think weíre all fully prepared for, as well must be extra difficult. Donít hold back if you need help ask, I sure people around you will be more than happy to help. If not leave a message on here and I will come round. I got two kids myself one nearly 6 and the other nearly 2 and Iím now over 50 so I know how much effort it takes.

Good luck!

Hope that they're wrong about Will.

If not then fingers crossed for as good a recovery as possible.

Really shocked by this, if it is as stated in the first post.

All the very best for a full recovery.

I heard something similar a while back but didnít want to post anything as seemed insensitive for something so serious.

Fingers crossed it isnít as bad as it possibly sounds and the Hurrelcane is ok.

That's horrible to hear. Best wishes for a full recovery.

If this is correct and coming to become public knowledge, then I think it's time for something official to come from the club rather than allowing rumours to circulate. I hope and trust that he is being given all the help and support he needs. It's very hard to imagine him playing any contact sport again if the injury is as described.

Yes, rumour & speculation are unhelpful

Really hoping someone's got this wrong but, if it is correct he gets my best wishes for a quick and speedy recovery.

How did the injury happen? Seem to recall Johnny May being involved...

If I recall correctly, he carried on playing after the incident which, I think , did involve Johnny May.

That was Charles with May, wasn't it?

Hurrell took two high shots prior to that in Tigs half (one was pretty bad and worthy of further sanction) then shortly after tackled in our 22 awkwardly and went down IIRC.

I was level with the second but missed the first one, his head Ďsnappedí back & should have gone to HIA but was In my view unfortunate. Iím shocked by the latest if true. Speedy recovery mate.

Really sorry to hear that. Wholehearted, skilful player. I hope he gets good advice, the best treatment and a full recovery. I admired his commitment in his brief spell in a Bath shirt but expected nothing less.

Thankfully, I think it was originally posted on Facebook by his mum.

Awful news.
Will was (still is) a much-loved man and player in his time at Coventry.

Best wishes to him and his family at this difficult time.
