Yes, apparently its one rule for one and one rule for others.

But then Mr Diamond cant even spell "spirit of the game" let alone apply it!

Wouldn't expect any different from Diamond. His 'two fingers up to everybody' way of working will bite him on the @rse one day.

I like the way the article says 'flaunted' the rules as if Sale had somehow waved them in the faces of players and administrators.

In the recent judgment in the van Rensberg case the panel says:

Quote:
the comments made by Mr Diamond suggested that there appeared
to be a lack of respect for the other parties involved in the proceedings and in particular
Mr Ginvert and the RFU. The combative approach of both Mr Diamond, and Mr Orange
[...] to the other parties was disappointing to record

It is entirely unsurprising that the club would behave like that. Diamond has always been dismissive and boorish and given his position at the club, both on the board and coaching, the club is always going to reflect that attitude. The owner appears from the above to be cut from the same cloth.

Another deduction of points for breaching not only the league but also the Goverment rules would be a nice thing to see, say 4 points for each breach (Sm100)
