Sorry WW (sorry Bard of BD23) but this has gone right over my head.

Who is the player pictured? I think possibly a prop forward who came through our academy?

Played a few county games for Staffordshire but retired after being accused of confusing the forwards with overly elaborate line-out calls.

Fancied himself as a bit of a writer but wasn't up to much as no one knew what he was on about.

Started flogging fishing tackle after that and made a bit of a go of it

Well written Bard, sums up well how many of us are feeling (although we wouldn’t put it across so eloquently)

As a Warwickshire lad, I now recognise our "prop forward" as a fellow Warwickshire person.

I think he played prop for Nuneaton rfu.

The repeated broken promises certainly bring to mind a line from Macbeth - full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

And he never played for Staffordshire.

AdminBTcov. I think with that hairstyle he could have played for Piney or Kersey a few years ago

George Eliot was even better, though back row I think.

My mum thinks her house is great. We have to take her there for lunch on a regular basis. Personally I think Mary would have better taste than the muck they serve up there.

Piney or Kersey?

I can only guess at Pinley or Keresley, otherwise you have stumped me.

I agree Mary/George would have done better than a Beefeater/Premier Inn.
