Congrats to Lee - I must admit I thought that the Coventry team would go for a Big Name, but obviously Lee has cut the mustard.
They are saying no Director of Rugby is required: could be a model for the inevitable cash-strapped times we will be entering into soon.

Another former Leeds Tykes player of the same era has sadly been released though:

"It has also been confirmed that current Forwards Coach Andy Titterrell will be leaving the club."

This topic prompted me to undergo a little research which resulted in the following:-

Leeds Carnegie v Newcastle Falcons at Headingley on 21st March 2008

Carnegie - Leigh Hinton, Apo Satala, Rob Vickerman, Lee Blackett, Tom Biggs, Alberto di Bernado, Joe Bedford, Mike MacDonald, Rob Rawlinson, Tommy McGee, Stuart Hooper (c), Kearnan Myall, Jon Dunbar, Hendre Fourie, Rhys Oakley. Replacements - Adam Hopcroft, James Parkes, Erik Lund, Mark Lock, James Brooks, John Holtby, Jon Goodridge.

Falcons - Matthew Tait, Tom May, Jamie Noon, Toby Flood, John Rudd, Jonny Wilkinson, Lee Dickson, Micky Ward, Rob Vickers, Carl Hayman, Mark Sorensen, Phil Dowson (c), Ben Woods, Russell Winter. Replacements - Matt Thompson, Jonny Golding, Andy Buist, Brent Wilson, Hall Charlton, Ollie Phillips, Alex Tait.

Carnegie - Tries:- Blackett Con:- di Bernado Pen:- di Bernado (3) 16pts

Falcons - Tries:- Wilkinson, Hayman Con:- Wilkinson Pen:- Wilkinson 15pts

Refereed by Chris White in front of a crowd of 8,917

Just for those who might have totally forgot, di Bernado's kick off was allowed to bounce by Falcons and Lee Blackett steamed onto bouncing ball and evaded a couple of tackles to cross under the posts after 8.28 seconds!

Who could forget that game? To think that we had that team just 12 years ago! (Sm134)

Best start to a game I have ever seen.

I think Lee will do well.

Hi All,
I remember it well, I correctly predicted that Lee would be a great player some months previous, however I don't recall a lot of people believed me or indeed responding to my comments about his latest success on the field.

8.28 seconds! Still a record for the Premiership. Not likely to be improved on any time soon!

We have a photo of Lee in a yellow hat when he was head coach at Rotherham somewhere.

Commitment heart desire passion and gave it everything in every game that's why he was a great player for Leeds.

But imo he wasn't a gifted and technically great player. He came as a 12 but it just didn't work for him there.

He was at his peak when we signed him from Roth and was talked about as the best midfielder in the Championship at that time. Unfortunately he soon picked up a bad leg injury which hampered his progression. Still put in some great performances before he moved on.
