Congratulations to Bristol Bears who won the European Challenge Cup last night. They beat Toulon in a thrilling encounter. The final score was 32-19.

It seems crazy that only a few years ago Bristol floundered in the Championship and were soundly beaten at Headingley. One team went one way and the other....

Well deserved by Bristol. I thought their naivety in the first half would cost them, but they stuck to the expansive rugby plan and outplayed Toulon. smiling smiley

Worth remembering also that Exeter Chiefs were promoted to the Premiership for the first time in 2010. Just look at them now!
Well done Bristol, a well deserved win.

Congratulation Exeter, European Champions!!! Great game and great win!(Sm152)

Exeter and Bristol our rivals for promotion over many years past and both with silverware to show for their efforts.

On the other hand, we have "floundered in the Championship", in the last 10 years, and what have we to show for it? We are on the edge of obscurity! Spilt milk and all that!(Sm117)

Agreed Bobba. Exeter got promoted, we had an established if not outstanding Premiership team after our Worcester million pound game but the following season we failed to meet expectations. The watershed moment was when we got relegated and Caddick withdrew his funding and also took the parachute payment away. Not aware of any professional club anywhere that has had that happen to them.

Perhaps I don't blame him in retrospect as support for a top Yorkshire RU team fell wholly on his shoulders and history tells us that there was no other support about.

Does it occur to anyone out there, that the lack of support, was, due to the fact that PC was there?
