Ford to stay, Toby Booth to join him ?
Tiggs 11 June, 2019 10:45
Mike Ford reported to be staying at Tigers, and the possibility of Toby Booth joining him for next season as he is out of contract.
He might even be made Head Coach with Smurph's role changing ?

It was a Fissler rumour that started it so take it how you may.
That being said Booth would be a good forwards coach IMO.
Bath only struggled at the scrum in the forwards against us in recent years elsewhere they have been more dominant up front.

DOR -Muprhy
Forwards - Booth
Defence/Attack - Ford
Scrum - Boris

Would be good so far with Head coach and Attack/Defence to fill potentially

Booth took LI up the table and his teams play good rugby. I wouldn't be averse to him coming in.

I'm with Stopsy on this. Both Booth and Ford have both failed in their previous jobs at Bath, despite Craig's riches. Both, I imagine, yearn to be top dogs again; Ford had a reputation at Bath as a disrupter and back-stabber. If this dream/nightmare team comes to pass at Welford Road, they'll be p*ssing themselves at the Rec. And I'd advise Geordan to look start digging his escape tunnel.

Lancaster, Farrell, Rowntree, Eddie Jones, Cockerill all failures at previous jobs too.

No saying its a good appointment but if we only appoint people who have never had a rubbish patch can we be surprised if they don't know what to do when they get in another one?

All of the shenanigans around this and indeed previous coaching appointments just show how poor our executive decison making has become.

It's very difficult to be dismissive of Booth or Ford....after Mauger and MOC, and indeed Murphy, as they were all appointed by the current BoD.

All this shows is that Tigers are still a million miles away from even starting digging their escape route - as the planning of it looks poor already.

The current BoD stumble from one crisis to another...without any accountability or responsibility being taken.

If there was any decency amongst the BoD, resignations would have been tendered, or at least a sacrificial lamb sacking would have taken place.

Whatever - Mr G Murphy is not the answer and frankly he was never going to be given his coaching record before entereing the hot seat.

At least Booth took LI up the table to nearly being chart toppers, and Mike Ford has had periods of success.

Reming me what G. Murphy has achieved?. 20+ lost games this season and 11th.

Fissler rumor I liked the last Fissler rumor Bothwick, what have we got? Kay on the board giving the Yes to MOC.

I get more excited going to the dentist than that lot.

Journeymen killed our squad, now journeymen could kill our coaching team. Great.

Question for those whom this news has depressed. Who do you think Leicester can attract right now?

This is a perfect time for a new Coach to be hired.

Sort Tigers out and you are a legend.

But.

But - it needs a plan, carefully thought out, with panache, imagination, a different slant on things to be thought out and applied. It requires skill and an understanding of modern pro-elite rugby. Tigers have not had that in 5 years.

It needs resources, ie the right things, in place at the right time - and for those things to be applied correctly.

This is where the problem is: Look at the things that will stop the above....

Peter Tom, Simon Cohen, Ben Kay, Rory Underwood, Bloody Digby Jones et al.

There is no plan.

There is no structure that works.

There is no imagination.

Therefore we end up with MOC/Murphy/Ford/Booth - Uncle Tom Cobley and all.

The behaviour of the BoD will and has stopped quality coaching candidates in the past.

I think the BoD will stop progress again.

That doesn't answer my question, though.

Despite our gradual decline, culminating in this gawd awful season, we are still a big club with much potential .. maybe to drag us up from [Plumpyship] rock bottom is attractive given the only way is up

Does this mean that Tigers are now Bath's retirement home for the not wanted.

How sad how times have changed.
