I wonder what mr Jones would have to say at the club’s development through to the 2000’s.

Back in the day when Stephen Jones was willing to say something good about us! Nostalgia indeed and a great read, many thanks

Loved it. We have had more than our share of 'golden ages'.

Always think these articles are a great antidote to all the "Tigers have always been forward dominated and boring" posts.

Chalky White coached us to win off poor possession as we struggled up front.

I remember the days (late 80s, maybe?) when we used to say “We’d be world beaters, if only we had a decent second row”...

...eventually Johnno, Ben K, Deacs et al came along. Cyclical trends?

Chalky White sued to say that they could win as long as they could get 25% of possession.

I couldn't remember the %, I did know it was low.

Just picked up Jonno's Autobiography in a 2nd hand shop. A great bedtime read. Just got to the bit where he gets into Tigers' 1st team and another golden age dawns.

I had - but sadly discarded - a Mercury clipping from around that time. Maybe a couple of years before. It was the build up to a cup semi/quarter final against Bath where, in the build up, they compared the quality of each team. Amusingly Jeremy Guscott was given a “3/10” rating and described as “probably Bath’s only weak link”.

Many thanks again Mike
