Van Wyk is here

Posted a picture from Tigers gym apparently.

Reckon two weeks to get over jet lag then start him v Bristol in the last midweek match? If we were to win v Castres perhaps bench in the semi final?

Honest question, is he that good?

Yes. Maybe not up to May's standards but not many are currently.

His Showreel suggests he's big, strong and quite fast. But it shows him to be a good finisher rather than a creator. Hard to tell, really, Stopsy as we don't know the quality of the opposition in the clips.

Well he's played plenty of Currie Cup and Super Rugby - decent standard.

Google Kobus Van Wyk; it's on You Tube. Called Highlights.

Certainly in to the squad even if as number 23 for the Semi final if we make it. If we don't make the semi final then i think probably play him off the bench vs Bristol and start him vs Quins.

Captain Darling 15 September, 2020 15:00
8 appearances, 7 starts and 8 tries in a curtailed season with the Canes isn't half bad either. He had a contract extension offered by the Canes that he was about to sign when the offer from Tigers came out of nowhere.

Not at May's standard but few are as previously said.I'd say he's on par with Holmes who is arguably the player he's replacing. Nadolo for May, Murimurivalu for Veainu and KvW for Holmes. Then it seems Freddie Steward is trusted to stepup as well.

KvW actually reminds me a lot of Thompstone in his prime. Physical, good in defence and plenty of pace to finish opportunities. If he can replicate what Adam brought during his years as a consistent starter then McGinity will have done very well.

Similar to Captain Darling's post he is a similar to Adam Thompstone, perhaps more of a step. Try scoring record is similar but he is on hot form for the Hurricanes.

Probably not from New Zealand.

No, that's why he has already been to the club.

He does need a negative test to join the playing group, but fingers crossed that is unlikely to be an issue. And he isn't available for the Challenge Cup games as registration couldn't be completed by Sept 1 without his presence. That's from Murphy's press conference via twitter.

So not in the challenge cup. Would hope to see him play some part in both league games even if it is just off the bench.
