Round 6 home Vs Racing 92
ninjafez 11 January, 2020 17:14
So with Munster 3 points behind us and racing 92 3 points ahead, can we assume the best chance of winning next week will be for racing to win well and sell qualification and potentially rest a few next week?

1 Racing 92 4 3 0 1 17
2 Saracens 5 3 2 0 14
3 Munster. 4 2 1 1 11
4 Ospreys 5 0 5 0 22

Mind you if they draw again...

If they get 21 or 22 points which guarantees them a home semi they might rest a few....

Highly doubt it, they’ll want sarries out of the competition

Russell playing like a drain. Racing look uninterested.

I hate to say it, not wishing to tempt fate, but played Racing!!!

Thank goodness for that. Much better later on. With the TBP secured and nothing for Munster here's hoping for a great game next weekend and a Saracens win.

That was a brilliant game!

Aussi, chapeau to Wayne Barnes for ensuring that all players knew what was going on. Nigel Whitehouse, in Dublin, in the match before, should be ashamed of himself.

Chapeau aussi a Teddy Iribaren !

What a pass !

so the simple way around it is:

If we beat Racing at home - we are 99% likely to qualify, unless Gloucester get a bonus point win away at Toulouse and Northampton get 5 points away at Lyon

If we draw with Racing at home - we are also likely to qualify unless Glaws win in Toulouse or Glasgow get a bonus point away at Sale

other options are available, losing but with 2 bonus points - to be honest if we can't win at home against a French team, we don't deserve to qualify

and in most permutations, if we do win and quality we would be most likely to go to........

Exeter!!! (Sm159)

or Leinster (bigger sofa)

Assuming we win next week and match Northampton's match points, then my money would be on a trip to Toulouse, which is a much better away day. We need Toulouse to win with a bonus point and improve their PD by +7 over Exeter.

I would say, given the current points, the points difference and their opponents next week, the top 3 seeds will be Leinster, Exeter and Tolouse in that order

Ulster (or potentially Clermont with a French away performance) will finish 6th and play Toulouse

That means that Us, Northampton, Gloucester, Glasgow and Munster are in that order competing for 7th and 8th position

By the time we kick off at 1.00 on Sunday we will just about know what we have to do as only Toulouse v Gloucester and Munster v Ospreys will be left to play.

Munster Ospreys mostly irrelevant as will be nailed on 5 pointer for Munster

Sarries are really standing on the banks of the Rubicon with the team selection for this match. IMHO it's either full-on for this game, as anything other than a full team for potential Qtrs, semis and final would be a total waste of time, or just not bother for this game either. Having got this far I suspect it will be full-on with the inherent dangers that poses us for the rest of the premiership season. Any temptation to continue with just good enough teams at this stage of the ECC would be daft. So for me it's all in or gracefully bow out.

To be clear - I'm not concerned about the injury situation, but more to do with the match quotas available for each player.

Unless they get a key player red carded in the first 5 minutes and play a further 10 with 13 men!! (Sm20) (Sm21)

a cynic would say that a moderate injury might be of benefit to Sarries. Six weeks of rehab to return for the Spurs game with no restrictions on appearances for the rest of the season
