Disciplinary panel tomorrow (15th) in front of Philippe Cavalieros (France), Chair, Donal Courtney (Ireland) and Yannick Jauzion (France),
Under World Rugby’s Sanctions for Foul Play, Law 9.13 relating to dangerous tackling carries the following sanction entry points – Low End: 2 weeks; Mid-range: 6 weeks; Top end: 10 to 52 weeks.

Hopefully he'll bring them some nice biscuits and everyone will forget he plays for Saracens otherwise he's doooooomed!

Given the ref dealt with it during the game; namely a red card, why will it be reviewed again by a disciplinary panel?
Just interested to know....

Re: Rhys Carre
NewPotnoodlehorn 14 January, 2020 19:59
Because ALL red cards are dealt this way.

Re: Rhys Carre
Sarriebone 14 January, 2020 20:08
A red card is an automatic citing. His only hope is that the panel see what most other people saw, i.e Rhys hitting the top of the chest and sliding up rather than a shot straight to the head. But I forsee a minimum 2 week suspension.

Do they take into account the point in the game when the offence occurred? You could hardly have a more serious punishment than being sent off in the first few minutes, in most cases it would condemn your team to defeat.
This probably ought to count for one game of his ban already.

in a word, no

Admit guilt, show lots of remorse, plead mitigating circumstances (double tackle made arm wrap difficult), point out that it was marginal chest/neck contact point without force, highlight previous good record, and most important highlight that any ban beyond 2 weeks will only affect Wales rather than Saracens. Result is 4 week ban reduced to 2 weeks so that he can play for Wales against Italy.
Simples!

Re: Rhys Carre
David@Sarries 15 January, 2020 12:08
It was also his first card of any kind

Re: Rhys Carre
TonyTaff 15 January, 2020 12:30
The maximum mitigation is 50%. If he pleads guilty, he'll qualify for that. So it's 3 weeks or one.

Unless there are different protocols in Europe.

TT called it correctly - 6 weeks reduced to 3.

Re: Rhys Carre
The Bard 15 January, 2020 19:11
If that was mid range, what could low range possibly be? Feel he has been very hard done by.
From Sarries point of view it probably makes no difference as he’d have been with Wales after this week anyway

Read the sanctions. It is very clearly laid out on page 1 Paragraph 1

Quote:
Sanction Entry Points
NOTE: ANY ACT OF FOUL PLAY WHICH RESULTS IN CONTACT WITH THE
HEAD AND/OR NECK SHALL RESULT IN AT LEAST A MID-RANGE
SANCTION

Reg 19 Appendix 2 Sanctions

Was always going to be a 3 week ban with a guilty plea, and no previous

Incredible - 6 week ban for that?

Most other challenges should result in a red card and a 6 week ban then!

It looks worse because it is in slow motion. Any incident does.

Does seem like dodgy dealings from the top to bottom. From ref to disciplinary committee.

And yet this from Hutchinson wasn't even cited!

I was a little surprised by the length of the ban, especially as Tom Collins only got a 2 week ban for his red for taking Umaga out in the air.

The ref said that the Hutchinson incident was too far back in the game to review, but mitigating circumstance could be that the attackers knee was on the ground so always falling. Also, you can see Hutchinson trying to wrap but is blocked by the attacker.

This was similar to Farrell's tackle that also went un-cited i believe.

At least there#s some consistency being shown by the citings officer... don't expect it to last long though!

Yes, as will Sean Maitland. We are required to release them by midnight on Sunday 26th, but not before.

Good to see that you're up to date on the Laws. I look forward to seeing them applied to Chiefs clear-out tactics at the ruck. Interesting that the Top14 had no time for one of Mitch Lees textbook "Chiefs" clear-outs. Incredible that such a dangerous and cynical piece of play should be such a calling card for your club.
