Excellent report, thanks. We don't get enough Shelley on here winking smiley

I have started wondering whether the romance of Bramley Road can be recaptured. Will it be permissible to sell beer in watering cans? Do I want my toes trodden on by a hooker stepping back to throw in? Turning up at an away ground to be met by a home committee man asking for volunteers to help make the pitch playable? I fear that we no longer live in such innocent times.

Thanks TT. I was rather on a literary roll. To include the Bible, Shelley and Wilde in one match report was not my plan, but all three came to mind as I was writing. After the reports today about at least six clubs gaming the system for lending out players I could mention a bit of Shakespeare, Lear IV.vi.156:
Thou rascal beadle, hold thy bloody hand!
Why dost thou lash that @#$%&? Strip thine own back:
Thou hotly lust'st to use her in that kind
For which thou whipp'st her.

As for turning up at away grounds, many years ago I arrived as a travelling, reserve / supporter and was asked to be a touch judge, the local volunteer having been called up by his wife to help prepare match teas, a greater priority. Innocent days indeed.

Excellent summary! Oddly some were leaving early (perhaps they’d had enough of my shouting!)
It was probably the best atmosphere of any European group game.
