For the love of whatever gods may be listening.
I have done the privacy settings thing; GDPR has been completed.
I do NOT need to be doing this every time I click anything at all on this site; and it is completely killing the entire network that every time I try to open a page, I get asked again, and redirected to the home page I wasn't interested in; and marking all the unread posts as having been read.

Please stop it!

For what it's worth; the "complain" button at the bottom of the page gives the email address for reporting abusive posts - sop either the SN complaints department is the same as that, or they are directly breaching GDPR regulations there.
Mind you, they're also breaking GDPR with these constant requests to update our privacy settings.

I've emailed; and it seems more likely to get their attention.

The same goes for the blue 'Privacy Settings' button in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen; I've switched them all off and saved the settings. It still comes back with them all allowed next time I refresh the screen!

I hadn't seen that little blue button - thanks for this, I have also disallowed them - lets see if that lasts.

They remain disallowed this morning. Also the 'I Accept' message has gone away

It sounds like you have your browser set to reject cookies, or some kind of overzealous ad blocker. Your settings will be stored in a cookie, so if you block them then every time you come back it will just think you’ve not saved any settings before.

But then - none of that had changed since May when the privacy settings were introduced - but quite a few people got pissed off yesterday all of a sudden.

I've only had one request today, having sent a complaining email yesterday

I have changed nothing on my browser (MS Edge) since I upgraded to Windows 10 6 weeks ago. Similarly, I have changed nothing since the problem got really irritating yesterday, but today it has gone away. Perhaps WT's e-mail to Sportnetwork highlighted a fault that they have now corrected.

I have also not changed anything on my browser and every time I enter the site, I have to accept the GDPR notice and this turns the ads back on, which I then have to turn off.

Message from SN yesterday at about 14:30

"Updated the Quantcast code to see if that helps...

Cheers

Jon "

Hopefully resolved but let us know if it continues.

Still got the Privacy Settings box in the right hand corner of my screen on CMOL.

Very irritating.

Just noticed that, when I go onto the Cycling News website, to find out about the Tour de France, the same Privacy Settings button is on the bottom right-hand corner. When I click on it there, it brings up the same privacy window as Sportnetwork, but instead of Sportrnetwork in the top left-hand corner, it shows 'Immediate Media Co'. Some external force at work here?

There are several commercial solutions to meeting the new GDPR consent regs. The one SN is using is a cheapskate one which lists pretty much every cookie in the world. The one that the sites I manage uses at least only shows the cookies which are actually on the site!
