England v Wales 6N - Where are Wales vulnerable?

It could be argued that this is the key fixture of the six nations, it is for me anyway. There is some conversation in the press about where Wales might make team changes and where they might be vulnerable.

The front row - This is one area where Wales are looking to strengthen with Dylon Lewis and Ken Owens perhaps being replaced.
Wales feel they were hard done by in the scrums v France with the TH boring in and splitting the front row. Are England going to be after the front row?

Tackling - Since Sean Edwards has left Wales seem to be missing more tackles. It seems that most of those are out on the wing and they have injuries out there but it could well be an area that can be exploited by England with ball carriers.

Biggars histrionics - There is much criticism in the Welsh press that Dan Biggar's arm waving being a distraction for Wales and others are copying him, Its thought that discussion with the referee should be left to AWJ. You wonder if the wind up merchants in the English pack might try to add fuel to the fire a bit with Dan to gain an advantage.

As long as England win, even by 1 point but 50 would be preferable, I for one will be very happy. No doubt the Welsh will find something to whinge about, win or lose.

Who is the ref? Hope its not the Italian guy who has yet to read the up to date laws and as long as it is not one of the Irish ones who tend to favour their celtic cousins.

Pretty much all over the pitch I reckon for this game. Pivac brings a new set of coaching systems and thinking, it will take time for his players to get what he wants into their game. Arguably the Irish game showed that adjusting to a new coach takes time

England are simply tweaking and building form RWC as I see it

Josh Adams is out, and you'd have to hope (for his long term health) that they're not negligent enough to consider George North, so McNicoll + ANO for the wings, though Liam Williams might be fit, but he's not played for months.

Halfpenny can be exploited too - he's not the player he once was.

I think the England camp really need to highlight to the ref the dissent Biggar constantly expresses when decisions don't go his way, and expect him to do something about it.

Wales have the better 9s by a distance.

Tipuric was well off colour against France, so expect him to step up. Should be a good battle in the back row.

England are superior in the second row, where Whinge Jones is past his sell by date, but is just out for the world record number of caps.

Front row is pretty even.

Eddie to wind up the Welsh about being sore losers and a bunch of whingers in the next week?

I don't like seeing North on the pitch against anyone, I know it sounds harsh but so many concussions tell you something.

harsh...but i agree. lol
I think they might blood LVZ from Glaws..they are out of everything else..even if it is their biggest game.
Agree on North, he doesnt seem able to take any hit and he needs to protect his long term health. Surely, the medics are all over this...so he needs to be advised by a specialist impartially.

Sean Holly is advocating that Hadleigh Parkes be replaced with Owen Watkin and Tompkins move to inside centre. That might be interesting as he would then be opposite Owen Farrell!
Liam Williams plays this weekend so I would have thought Williams, 1/2p and McNicol to be the back 3. Not sure he will risk LRZ at Twickers.

Looks like we won't have to face LRZ following this "Teenage wing Rees-Zammit has been classed as unavailable for selection by Gloucester, who say he is ill."

There is going to be an issue selecting a 10 with Dan Biggar suffering a knee injury today. Is the Rhys Priestland call up back on?

Well if on the v unlikely chance that Rhys did play, I have £5 that says he plays a blinder.
Whilst elsewhere Freddie implodes in a mess of overwhelming inadequacy.

Breathe again every body, because Priestland signed an extension to his contract he is ineligible:

"But he is short of the 60-cap threshold required by the WRU selection rule.

Having signed a contract extension with Bath last season, he is captured by the policy and not available." from Walesonline.

Unless Pivac applies for special dispensation.

So its Jarod Evans, Sam Davies or Calum Sheedy at 10 for Wales.

Going back to para 1 of this post, if that's the case why was he in the frame previously then?

Is it not "exceptional circumstances"?

I thought that he was only unavailable if he had been offered an WRU contract (and turned it down). Does this mean he Was, and did?

Sam Davies (Dragons) trained with the Wales squad this week so might be highest on the list with Biggar almost definitely ruled out.
