It would seem he is quite relaxed about being picked in either position.

JAMIE Shillcock revealed there had been “quite a few chats” about his best position – but insists he is content to remain Warriors’ flexible friend.

The fly-half operated from his natural position as a replacement in two Premiership Rugby Cup before switching to full-back for a start at home to Exeter in October.

After that the 23-year-old wore 10 in matches against Enisei-STM and at home to Dragons but played full-back in appearances against Castres.

Shillcock’s four Premiership outings have all been in the last line of defence with fans convinced he has the talent to fill the boots of Chris Pennell in the long term, a vision perhaps backed by the recruitment of Wasps fly-half Billy Searle.

“I have had quite a few chats with quite a few people about this, where I should be playing and where I want to play,” said Shillcock.

“It is more about wherever I can play, that's my answer at the moment. Getting on to the pitch is key for me.

The downfall of more players than the makings? A 10- 15 or others being a wing - 15. You still need to be best in position whichever it is. With Searle coming in makes it pretty tight to show your skills

It's a tightrope. Some players have done pretty well being multi positional - Alex Goode and Austin Healey are a couple that spring to mind.

Main thing is that he is good enough in one position to hold it down rather than being jack of all trades.

He played great at 10 against Enisei - but we'd need to see him against top opposition to start making judgments. I think he is good enough to be a 15 - but certainly isn't the finished article yet on the back of the Wasps game.

At 24 he needs to be or the opportunity will pass him by

Remembering his performance against Bristol in the championship play offs when he played very well at scrum half I'm surprised he doesn't target that position. He's fast, has good ball skills and, in my opinion, could really work in that position. England and Warriors need a scrum half !

I think Jamie has been diverted away from his natural position and has lost some of his natural flair through no fault of his own.

For me, as a fullback -No, as a fly-half - Maybe as a stand in. Scrum Half - who knows !?

Whilst he was on the bench as a scrum half, he didn't actually get on. Bruzulier was the SH that match and did play well. Another excuse to watch the last seven minutes again!

I can't recall Jamie ever playing SH for the first team.

He came on for the last few minutes of the semi - final. His kick out, as scrum half, IIRC was the last action of that game..
