Members of the Leicester Tigers squad have allegedly been involved in a violent altercation in a pub on their pre-season training tour.

The Tigers are currently in the Algarve, south Portugal, preparing for the new Premiership season.

But trouble is alleged to have flared shortly after their arrival at an Irish bar in Vilamoura at 11:30pm on Monday night.

Glasses are claimed to have been thrown back an forth between the Leicester squad and men who are alleged to have been local security staff.

Tigers captain Tom Young was allegedly left with a facial wound which was caused by a glass thrown.

It is claimed that the players and the security staff then had a second clash before local police were called to disperse the situation.

Head coach Geordan Murphy is said to have visited the pub following the incident and spoke to police about the altercation.
A club spokesman said: "The players made us aware of an incident when they were given a night off.

"The club have co-operated fully with the authorities and while we believe this is the end of the matter, we will take further action if appropriate."

Footage seen by the Daily Mail reportedly shows the squad sitting at a table following a long day of drinking on their day off.

Tne player is said to have been performing pull-ups on a beam that was over the table and when he did not stop when requested, the bar decided that they would not serve any more alcohol to the squad.

The boisterous behaviour allegedly riled bar staff and security were called.

After an animated discussion, it is alleged that Greg Bateman was punched, along with another player who could not be identified on the video footage.

There is no suggestion Leicester squad reacted by throwing any punches.

It is claimed Youngs stood at the front of the group and attempted to calm the situation - despite being hit by a glass.

The players are unlikely to face charges following the incident, according to reports.

Oh dear showing off is not always the best thing to do in a pub in a foreign country.
