Some really tough calls there--competition for places that should allow for rotation as the season goes on ,especially when injured return. Wise not to push Mama too hard given the previous compartment syndrome .

A pair of Wallers in the front row and a certain Andy Symons, who if I remember jumped ship along with a certain Dean Ryan?
Saints missing Lawes, Ludlum, Bigger
If we get big afternoons from Hougaard and Mills, then suggest we might have a good chance

Sorry.

His interception try on half-time turned the game, and turned our (Saints) season around - we improved from that point on, and he was magnificent for the rest of the campaign.

On paper it looks a winnable game. Not sure why Howe isn't involved.

Good job England won today! Really bothers me how we put out our strongest team and still struggle against teams with tons of their best players unavailable.

Confirms we will continue to fall apart away from home. They had about ten players missing and still hammered us. Exeter next week which is usually a hammering so we need to find some performance from somewhere.

That was Saints 2nd/3rd team and we scored 1 try in the 79th minute.

This was the 6th game of the season there are no excuses

Cr4p recruiting, Cr4p coaching, Cr4p organisation!

We are not good enough and probably never will be until we get leadership on and off the field that really cares.

Watch out for the vomit inducing match summary from the club and rose tinted onlookers.

I try not to comment on the day of a match but will today.
I suggested at Solly's evening that to climb the table we had to improve our away form and asked if he had a cunniung plan. He said that we had to perform better in the first twenty minutes, he didn't mention falling apart in the rest of the game.
I will say it now that I think this is a coaching issue and it has to be sorted out quickly.

Before the season had even started the squad knew the head coach was not in Worcesterís plans (whatever that means). That cannot possibly be a good place for the squad to be in. As soon as I read that I was worried. However the world hasnít ended just yet. Irish are getting hammered at home and Wasps look average again.

The usual away hammering. Still, we usually play much better the following week after a beating like that.

It was a bit different in so much that it wasnít the slow start that killed us.

So thatís new.

Too many sacred cows in the team.

(Though I donít think we need to surrender so totally JP!)

Unless help or change arrives I fear we are doomed

I THINK THE PREM WILL INCREASE BY 1 NEXT SEASON

So watched the game on screen
I said Hougaard and Mills needed big games, so start with that - Hougaard busy scrapping wrecked his shoulder and had to go off. Mills with the chance for a pretty clear 3 points when either 3-9 or 6-9 up instructed to kick for corner and we got nothing.
The rest of the game
- Weir - missed two kicks when we were on the scores as above.
- Turning into scrapping contests not playing rugby after half time.
- Solomons had to take off Annett and others due to this on 50 mins or so. Saints wound us up like a clock. Need to grow up boys
- Taufatee throwing issue again - get it sorted
- no shape, unable to play to the laws, and coughed it up, or knocked on too many times.
- That was not a professional display by us in the second half.

official stats

Nanai doesn't come out very well - with 4 missed tackles ans 2 turnovers conceded. And yards made by most players were very low

JP the more I think about it I belive that our recruitment was based on there being no relegation and being able to bring on the acadamy.

Putting the double negative to one side, which I am sure is a typo.

The phrase you used (unabridged) was "12th place a certainty".

That sounds pretty absolute to me. You call it certain.

TVM spot on in words and actual meanings(I also forgot that one bu66er)

However thinking on my toes and slipping inside your left shoulder for a 50 meter break towards the line.

That was the call for help and change?

Iím worried that if we over Coach the defensive system to Nanai we inhibit his natural attacking intent. We signed him to score tries, let the boy play!

Also - isnít he more of a natural 15?

This is half the problem. We ask if its feasible.

Even on this board we wax lyrical about the potential and ability of the youngsters, and even observe how well they play in tough conditions....then when asked to pick our best XV just resort to the same old names again.

We all (club and supporters) culturally seem to be stuck in the rut.... a player being dropped shouldn't be a feasibility issue!

You are quite right TVM but completely understandable.

We all fear(dislike) losing no matter what we are doing, getting rebuffed by the gorgeous brunette by the bar or tiddlywinks with the grandkids. Losing is not good.

Losing a premiership game like no other can have huge consequences on the survival of the club.

So what do we do? We know we have to blood and develop our youngsters it is the best way to develop a sustainable club but "LOSE A GAME??"... We therefore select what we feel is the best team every time we play, the developing player may have potential bet generally he is not the best player in that position.

Think how tough it is for Solly with not only the supporters and players wanting to win but the owners paying him a salary to WIN!

There is not much that can be done to change that unless we have a relegation moratorium invest in the championship clubs and grow the fully professional league until we have enough for two fully funded professional leagues - sustainable leagues.

It may take 20 years, it may take 5 but the professional rugby has to think long term, wider and bigger.

Phew??

You are of course right on that one JP.

It's why broadening horizons requires a bit of courage. In some ways people feel it is better the devil you know. We know what we are getting with these names, and its a bit of a risk.

However, my opinion is based not on development, but maybe them doing a better job NOW. It's just an idle thought

I think a slightly worrying thing is that with players away on RWC duty many clubs are playing their acadamy lads and are still doing better than we are. I think Saints had five on Saturday. Apart form Ted Hill we had no one.
Shillcock is now 22 he has to cut it soon. Clubs are giving the likes of Owen/Lawrence/Kitchener minor/ Scott/Clegg and Cutting a chance - should we?

From memory the best performance in the prem cup games was against Exeter where we put out a load of our youngsters. Yes Exeter were off colour but these lads needs an opportunity in the prem. the club talk about not wanting to block our academy players by bringing in players, so letís give them game time. They canít do worse than the pathetic end to the Saints game.
