New Garden Village near S4C

'A huge development that will see 2,700 homes built near Truro has received a Government cash boost.
The land in question at Langarth, near Threemilestone, will see a whole 'new town' of up to 8,000 residents built near the Stadium for Cornwall site.
Minister of State for Housing Kit Malthouse MP has confirmed that the Langarth development has been awarded £150,000 in funding after being recognised under the government’s Garden Community Programme as a 'garden village'.
He said: “Building the homes the country need is vital to the nation’s success – but they need to be homes that will become part of thriving communities; places where the generations who come after us want to live.
“I am confident that Threemilestone Garden Village (Langarth) will do just that, and I congratulate Cornwall Council for stepping up to the mark, demonstrating real determination which helps deliver our ambition of 300,000 new homes a year from the mid-2020s.”
The cash will be used to progress planning applications and specialist reports needed before homes are built.

Local councillor Dulcie Tudor has welcomed the fact Langarth is now deemed a ‘garden village’ but has said she will be doing her utmost to ensure what is delivered remains true to the plans.
She said: “I believe garden towns and villages are simply a vehicle for the government’s massive housing drive making it easier to facilitate large housing developments on green belt land.
“But we know Langarth already has planning permissions for 2,700 houses so in this case the label ‘garden village’ can only be a good thing.'

This is from Cornwall Live website. What do we think, people? Good news? Left hand not knowing what the right is doing? Moving in the right direction?

All that's needed to make it work is a Stadium that's accessible for all - I believe there have been plans for one for the last 9 years he says with his tongue in his cheek and a furrowed brow(Sm136) C'mon you governmental depts start talking(Sm164) to one another and stop fudging worthwhile projects.

At the end of the day all that is needed is a stadium, so why can't a stadium be built? Sandy Park was built without the need for housing development alongside, so why should the S4C be different, we really do not need housing but we need a stadium.

I am presuming that this story is linked to another thread 'Government Funding For Road to New Town'.

Direct reference is made to the stadium by the Ministry of Housing:

'In its announcement, the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government said the new road would "help cut congestion and pave the way for thousands of homes to be built alongside new schools, a community centre and a planned sports stadium".'

The origin of the 3 million appears to be the issue but as has been said many times much is going on behind the scenes to make the stadium happen.
