Best Wishes to Jack & Luke

It is with obvious understanding that I feel on Saturday we should all feel a little nostalgic, Why? Well, whether or not you support the game of rugby union (many do!), all of us will together want to wish two former Penzance-Newlyn and ‘Pirate’ boys, Jack Nowell and Luke Cowan-Dickie, all the very best when Exeter Chiefs play French team Racing 92 in this season’s European Cup Final. Win or lose, it will be another great honour for the pair of them, in a team that is making it first ever appearance in the final of this major rugby competition. The game at Ashton gate, Bristol, kicks off at 4.45pm
At this time words of praise are also due another local product and former Pirates player, Tom Hendrickson, who, though not selected on Saturday, has admirably played his part in the Exeter team’s squad this season.

Totally agree with Phil's comments the club should be immensely proud of the achievements of Jack, Luke and Tom who are all products of our youth section. Best wishes to Exeter Chiefs for today's game.

Many congratulations to Exeter - well deserved. Rob Baxter is such an impressive human being. Time for him now to become Prime Minister and show the whole country what real leadership looks like.

Well done Exeter. Just a few years since they won promotion - shows what is possible. If the ring fencers get their way this kind of story could never happen.

Don't forget local ex-Pirates scrum-half Ricky Pellow either. He has played a very important role in all this.

I believe Ricky was on the bench when Bath won their European Cup final against Brive 20 odd years ago.

A great result for Exeter and with our local lads partaking a great day, I understand the rivalry we have with Exeter and before their promotion it was the match we all attended whether home or away. (Sm108)

Exeter have so many 'good fits' in personnel terms . There are too many to mention but Rob Baxter, Ricky Pellow and others, including media man Mark Stevens have been terrific - a good balance of local people who have undoubtedly helped considerably towards their deserved success.
