Thought I'd post a few observations on my visit to todays open day:
- Not as well attended as I'd have hoped... hope the club were happier
- Thought thered be more kids there
- Pitch looks great. For some reason, I expected the 'grass' to be spikey to touch, it wasnt. The ground was actually softer than I'd Imagined too
- watching how the ball is affected by the pitch, I feel it bounces slightly more and rolls a bit further
- Players are looking fit and looked sharp in their training session
- Q&A's saw some reasonable questions asked.
- Everyone seems positive for the season
- Theres at least one new supporter this season who I spoke to today... very much looking forward to it.
- RW not co corned about away form, we haven't lost away in the league for 6 months smiling smiley
- XL Motors stand is heavily advertised as such... even as you look underneath from the main stand
- Theres a building being erected at the railway end, I presume additional matchday hospitality/conference facilities
- club shop was open, I saw a decent number of people carrying (I assume) purchased goods away
- All the staff look part of the team in their Coventry Skins tops too. Nice touch
- Carpark is now pay and display as mentioned elsewhere. Aside from the two (i think) pay points, it is not obvious that you have to pay as there are no more signs, hopefully people dont get caught out
- Season ticket holders' reserved seating updated with new logo/crest

Really looking forward to the season, it's about time it got started. First one for me will be Bedford at home. Cant wait!

Thanks for the positive comments!

With the numbers it’s always an inexact science. We did a range of marketing, had a variety of activities, and the weather was really good. A few hundred people came, which we are reasonably happy with, and more importantly all the burgers sold out!

On a more serious note, we also shifted a fair amount of merchandise, and people went home with a smile on their face having had a good time, we hope.

This was the first time that this current management group has done an event like this, so we will learn a lot from it. And the best thing about the new pitch is that we have more flexibility about when we can do such a similar event in the future.

As I said at the end of the Q&A, we are all very much in it together. From our end we know we need to put together an outstanding product, on and off the field. But then we also need people to bring their friends and family getting more bums on seats and therefore revenue. Hopefully will see numbers grow during the course of the season starting with the Bedford game in a couple of weeks.

Thanks to everyone who did come along today, we very much appreciate it. And please keep your constructive feedback and comments coming – we are all ears and know that improvement is a constant process

It was a good day and well organised...But!
I think the club missed a trick, because I think more people would have turned up to see 40 mins of competitive rugby Cov v Cov. The squad is big enough and after 16 weeks of training the squad didnt need another training session; they need gametime. The fans also have been starved of competitive rugby.

I know with pitch being constructed slipage needed to be built into programme. But Cov could have delivered a bit more spice with their burgers today.

Must admit I think it’s a shame that Cov won’t be the team to christen the pitch. Couldn’t make it yesterday, anything if interest from the Q&A?

Not really, no targets mentioned, just looking for steady improvement over next three years. Looking for more consistency on a week to week basis.

Disappointed I was away for this!

Sounds a cracking day.

Any idea when the shop will be going live online? Also for those that have purchased clothing how generous are the sizes? Is a Large a large or is it a medium. I haven’t been able to perfect the 6 pack this summer (or ever!!)

We were traveling home from a few nights in Bruges so I couldn’t attend, but would have loved to have been there. Really looking forward to the new season.

Car parking was an issue with one machine not taking coins after the first pound.
Also what is the position to supporters on away games who take cars to meet the coach. Do they pay £4 or if their is a football/rugby league match on do they pay £5.
Is there any minimum time for those popping int the office to collect tickets etc. Or do the parking charges prevail.
Think the supporters would welcome a detailed view on this from the club.
