The open day was tinged with great sadness , in that i found out that one of the contributors to here JEAN H passed away last week following a stroke. Jean Hughes was a wonderful woman and was married to Paul Hughes , a life long supporter and voice of the cowshed. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. R.I.P Jean.

Very sad indeed. RIP Jean.

I hope the club will acknowledge her passing in some way.

Feisty but lovely. It was very good to know Jean. Sad news indeed. RIP Jean.
Thanks for letting us know Mark (H).
Like the other Mark (Diesel74) I hope the club will recognise Jean’s (and Paul’s) long-standing support and make an appropriate gesture.

What a shock I used to sit next to Jean and Paul and they were very caring to me when I lost my sister. Very sad and indeed a great stalwart of the club.

All,

Have just returned from a weekend away and have been catching up with the news. Was very saddened to hear this news. Paul and Jean were on the recent CRSC coach to Moseley on August 23rd and to hear of Jean’s sudden passing is such sad news.
On behalf of myself, and on behalf of CRSC, very sincere condolences to Paul and Jean’s immediate family. A very sad loss . RIP Jean

I had the honour to meet Jean when I was trying to source a CRFC woolly hat for Phil Nilsen last year. She responded, invited me around to their place to pick it up, and of course wouldn't take a penny for it. (I told Phil that it had cost me forty quid, obviously). smiling smiley

Even though we only had a brief chat, she was lovely, and her (and Paul's) knowledge of the club was encyclopaedic and seemingly perpetual. To be honest, I wouldn't have been surprised if they were sat at the table the day the club was formed - they just seemed to know everything about every player I'd ever heard of, and plenty that I hadn't.

Her love for Cov Rugby shone through, and I remember driving back and thinking how lucky the club were to have such kind, generous and dedicated supporters. I don't doubt she'll be much missed by her family, friends, fellow supporters, and of course here on the message board.

Russ.
