Or Medics Rugby Challenge to give it it's proper name.

Medics 16 - 23 Marines

Check out their website to see what an enduring event this is. "Stress-free rugby" as one punter put it last night. Sadly, the date this year clashed with the city's fireworks on the Hoe, but the weather Gods were smiling which resulted in an "official" crowd of over 1 000 (the first time for any game this season?).

Definitely not Prem rugby, but the teams were pretty evenly matched - which has not always been the case in the past. Seti's name was on the team sheet, but it was probably right that he didn't make it on to the pitch. Medics scrum was pretty awesome, Booties had a rampaging giant on the wing. Certainly kept the interest of the appreciative crowd right up until the final penalty and whistle. Well done all.

If you're not a fan of the actual poppies and badges thing, this is the way to "do your bit" for Remembrance. Pay with a tenner on the gate and chuck the change in the many buckets around the bazaars - job done. There was a monster raffle in the Bidvest - one guy literally won a barrow full of booze! (Yup - brand new wheelbarrow included. Had to call his mate with a Transit to get the whole lot home.)

Sure, this is mostly a military/medical thing, but it was a fun night out at a budget price; RM band included.

Regrettably, the bars set-up was found wanting again. Hundreds of people with little interest in pounds & pence had to join long queues to get the the neck oil in. There has to be a better way of getting thirsty folk served in a timely fashion. Turn 'em round quick and they'll be for more before you know it, right?

Come cheer up, my lads - 'tis to glory we steer!

No change there then with the service from the bars, the staff are not up to it
Last night and also on match days. Service and prices after the games on Saturdays is not popular.
Was invited up to the Lounge or the Shakespeare after the game last night. Apparently both
Are used pre and post match by many regulars.🍻

....the weather Gods were smiling which resulted in an "official" crowd of over 1 000 (the first time for any game this season?).

Albion got 1,148 for their first home game of the season.

Hopefully, that will be beaten on Saturday if the weather gods are kind.
Forecast is for heavy rain early in the day turning to cloudy in the early afternoon.
