According to Fissler Chiefs are interested in Max Malins, the Sarries fly half, who is out of contract in the summer and is not happy with the terms being offered. Other clubs, including Glaws are also interested. Would be a good signing!

This would be a very astute signing imo , a young and very good player.

In TRP this morning Fissler reckons Rob is keeping a close eye on Rhys Webb as a possible replacement for Nic White. Webbís contract with Toulon ends in 2021 but his family have not settled in France and have moved back to Wales and he has a clause in his contract that allows him to leave the club before entering into the final year of his contract.
He might opt to return to a Welsh club to become eligible to play for Wales but he is now 30 and the lure of a decent pay packet and a chance to play in the Premiership might be tempting! Bath and Bristol might also be interested!

It would be a good signing IMHO. A lot of experience and hopefully plenty enough gas in the tank given his limited game time at the moment. 31 next year he should be good for a couple of years while the Maunders and Townsend continue to develop. To win the big games we need a sprinkling of game changers, which he is.

I wouldn't read anything into that. The story read like it contained nothing beyond his own speculation from what I could tell. I could have written it.

In effect - Rhys Webb "could be" be leaving Toulon early (hardly news to anyone with has a remote interest in Welsh rugby). Rob will be looking for a 9 to replace Nic White. Therefore Webb "could be just the kind of player the Chiefs are looking for he is looking for."

2+2=7

Hardly justifies a headline of "Chiefs keep eye on Webb". They must be desperate for copy.

Rob did kinda touch on this in the latest offering on Chiefs TV. He said that bringing in a replacement for Nic was an option (without saying any names) along with also saying that bringing through the youngsters.

While I do agree in part Chief Cymraeg that we should take this news with a pinch of salt I have observed Rob stating in the past that sometimes you have to jump on players in some and you may not always get who you wanted as good players in some positions don't always come available or are snapped up by others. This seems especially the case with halfbacks so if Rob can get a 9 capped for the Lions then I am all for it, but there is no smoke without fire.

I am more than happy with our current young 9ís, Jack, Sam and Stu have been taught to play in the style that Chiefs need and imo will only get better given game time. Iíve said it before, but our best ever season, playing our best rugby, was played with Jack at 9 for a large chunk of the season and Stu stepping in at the end when Jack was injured.
A new 10 for me is more important, Malins is a quality player who can plat at 10 or 15.

Nic White must be on a decent wedge with the Chiefs and, given the length of time he has spent at Chiefs, so must Steeno. That gives Rob a sizeable chunk of his salary cap to play with and whilst I agree Townsend and The Maunder brothers have bright futures, an international player of the quality of Rhys Webb does not become available often. A lucrative 3 year contract might be more attractive than representing Wales who in my opinion have shat on him!

I agree, Stu and jack are both great 9ís but letís be honest here, nic is over in Japan as the starting 9 for Australia and Rhys is world class with loads of caps for wales and also the lions, sometimes you canít just rely on local talent and need to go after that world class talent when it comes up

I'm not saying it won't happen or its not a good idea. In fact I firmly believe we need some top class old heads at 9 & 10 while the young guns get experience. I, for one, would be delighted if Webb joined us & I know Rob must be looking to replace Nic White.

However, my only point was that the TRP article, was light on fact and just jumping to conclusions, not even mentioning any rumours. I know they have form in this area, in fact I'm surprised they didn't link him to a £1m contact with Sale, like they normally do!

Not a Fissler rumour but, I believe that George Fords contract expires at the end of the season, do we think he would make a good signing ??

Thereís no chance we can sign Ford. He will almost certainly stays at Leicester, especially now his father is coaching there. But for what it is worth IMHO he is by far and away the best 10 in the league and behind a pack like ours could open teams up. We couldnít afford a high class 9 and a 10 but one of the other. Given the depth of young talent we have at 10, it could actually be a very shrewd signing that could give us an edge.

If we are speculating.. the player I would love us to sign most next season would be Joel Kpoku (I would imagine Dennis would be leaving at the end of the season). Saints are rumoured to be after him. He is a beast of a bloke and sure to be a future star and dominate games like Itoje. For me the reason why Sarries are the best team in the land is because they dominate teams in the tight, at the breakdown etc.. they have by far the best set of locks in Europe.. Itoje, Kruis, Skelton, Isiekwe, Kpoku etc!

And according to Fisler Sarries have offered Max Malins an improved deal so I'd say we can forget about him!

I drink and forget stuff!

Dennis signed a 2 year deal last season, so is here until summer 2021

After Saturday (and even before to be honest) I personally would make it a priority to sign a creative centre or someone to spark our back line into motion.
If not someone creative then a big ball carrying 12 to create space outside.
Henry will be missing a lot of matches and if Ollie D gets injured again when Henry is away then that's all our creativity gone during international windows etc.
Obviously we have to stay within cap limits so even if it's someone young with half an eye to the future unless there is someone coming through from the academy?
