We were one of the three clubs that opposed a reduction in the salary cap. It may be that we have realised that a reduction will be inevitable if some clubs are not to go out of business and are therefore preparing for this by letting less "core" players go when good offers come in for them.

It could also be that Pirates might get a chance of promotion irrespective of league performance if, say, three or more of the Prem went bust and it would help them if we provided them with players capable of competing at Prem level.

Pure speculation, but who knows what the Prem will look like post-COVID?
