Will be interested to hear people's views on the game today!

No disrespect meant to Ampthill, but a 0-5 loss at home to the newly promoted side isn't usually a cause for optimism.

Haven't been following the other cup groups so much, but one point from three games and Ealing away to come must surely make the quarters pretty unlikely now, at best an away quarter final.

OMG - I am so worried for the season, It is going to be a very tough one. We were outplayed and left looking like the new team not Ampthill(Sm123)

Woeful....that was one of the worst Bedford performances
Iíve seen at Goldington Road. Out played, out muscled and no leadership. On that performance, Bedford will struggle this season.

Perhaps those who view and sometimes visit this forum only to criticise those of us who have been critical the club and its performance, should I think offer us their view of the teams performance today .........yes you the ones with the Ďblue tinted glassesí......the stage is yours.....please donít be shy......

I count myself as a ' blue tinted member' No amount of criticism from me is going to change a single thing at the club so why bother. After many years following a football club (at vast expense) I love a day out at Goldington Rd, obviously a winning day is better. The only way is up so blue tints on.

Where is the coaching team. Ampthill we're well drilled. Every tackle they made on us there were 2 players on top hence the turnovers. Every tackle we made they had 2 players protecting the ball. We were playing solo rugby with no support and no passing. The only time we played like Bedford we scored

Miss Rugby 06 October, 2019 11:03
I do believe that it is time to say 'what do we expect at Bedford'.
There is a lovely family feel to the club and if that is what the supporters want, then so be it.
Others including myself wish to see the club flourish as a rugby club playing a good brand of rugby and yes with the ambition that just maybe one day that we could be in the top flight. I am fed up of hearing, well we are the 14/15th best team in the country as if that justifies everything.
I believe that there needs to be a clear out at all levels and new people with vision brought in to put the club back on track.
The club is to complacent and becoming very stale and maybe this season could bring a few shocks with it.
I hope we survive as I love my club.

Phil r : The coaching team can normally be found up high in the bird box waving their clipboards about. Youíre right about the Aís, a very well drilled outfit, well coached.. The pre match motivational speech by Mo obviously did the trick. I wonder what he said lol

Jeez, three game in, in a micky mouse competition that nobody is interested in, and it's the end of the world.

Let's wait until the real season starts next Sunday, once we're 6 games in we'll have an idea of where we will finish. Blue tinted glasses, tell me we'll be top 6 COYB.

Miss Rugby 07 October, 2019 17:02
Doesn't matter whether its a micky mouse competition or the league the squad should be ready to play regardless. on the showing on Saturday this team was still on holiday or thought they had got it in the bag. Looking at the signings other clubs have made, I feel that Bedford has stood still for to long and needs to show ambition.

Re: In The Pink
iron blue 07 October, 2019 17:40
Could not agree more, however the reality , (unfortunately) is that we have a small squad,( as we live within our means) It was very clear on Saturday that some players did not want to commit themselves and risk injury in what was no more than a glorified pre season friendly. lets see how things go when the season actually starts on Sunday. If we get hammered by Yorkshire I will start to get worried. (Sm11)

Indeed but more to the point the Ďhighlightsí lasted 1 minute 37 seconds.......Iron Blue I like many of us hope your thoughts are correct and things will improve.......however my head tells me that Miss Rugby s two postings are equally correct......

We shall soon see with Leeds our next game........a very important game for both teams.....

I think Iíd be classed as having blue tinted spectacles but in my/our defence the optimism/realism has been over the past couple of seasons when those with black tinted spectacles have been prophesying doom only for us to be near the top of the table. Whatís that saying? A broken clock is right twice a day.
This year was always going to a be struggle. We have lost experienced, senior players from the spine of the team - Clare, Flanagan, Williams, Dickson - and we are bedding in their replacements whilst missing Hooley. Iím not expecting great things this year but I will reserve judgement until closer to Xmas. If we are as rubbish as these results suggest, letís just be glad that Leeds seem to be even worse.

A loss against Leeds this weekend will tell us a lot about the squad's mindset and potential quality.
On the other hand, a win, even a big one, won't tell us much at all.
Coventry and Ealing are the next up, so it won't get any easier.

Re: In The Pink
iron blue 08 October, 2019 16:55
Love the broken clock analogy, glass half full comes to mind as well. I agree with Yaffle, a win at the weekend won't tells us to much except perhaps the mindset, and if three defeats have had an effect.

Whilst I would be surprised if we manged to beat Cov away, by all accounts we were much better in the 2nd half so we may get something from that game.

Which brings us onto Ealing,I believe Ealing will win the league this year so even with my blue tinted sunglasses on I cannot see us getting anything from that game.

Still believe we will finish top 6, possibly even 4th.

ĎA Micky mouse competitioní.....Bedford field their strongest team and get humped by the Aís, certainly one team was up for it on Saturday and that wasnít Bedford. Completely out played all over the park, it IS going to be a long season.
Weíll survive relegation, but donít expect the brand of rugby weíve seen in the last couple of seasons..Itís not going to happen.
All this talk of quality over quantity, really????...we are seriously lacking in key positions and lack leadership on the field.
Itís about time the bird box became out of bounds for certain mgt and they became more visible pitch side (just a thought). Perhaps then they may be able to execute their coaching abilities more effectively.....
