Looking at the squad, there are probably more to come out yet
Fly half, Centres and Props look a tad thin
Good depth in back row and back three

For me we need 5 more bodies in:

2 x Centres - Proven Premiership Standard players
2x Tight head props - As above
1 x Fly Half - maybe a fallen out of favour players or a championship standard player who we can bring on.

Props still slightly worry me wonder if we will see any in the academy next season, as we also don't have many young ones coming through.

Dave Wilson and Jack Payne (both props) are still here; contract lengths were undisclosed for both players I believe. I think Scott Wilson's 3 year deal is due for renewal this summer, likewise for Hammersley. I expect both of these will be in the batch of renewals Smithy has mentioned.

Scott Wilson and Hammersley removed as per Pedro Falcon. I also expect to be adding these two back in at some point

Jack Payne is a Mowden Park player rather hand being directly contracted to Falcons is my understanding

And I would keep Scotty Lawson on as hooker as well. Whilst he may retire...he may well perform the same role as Aly Hogg, in providing quality veteran back up when required.

Chick, radwan and kibirige will become established first team players (perhaps not alwaus starting ones).

I suspect they are looking at Cowell for the 15 slot. He has massive potential.

I imagine we'll see more of Chick with Latu and Hogg retiring, perhaps him and Burrows sharing the 8 shirt.

Im curious to see how Penny and Charlie Wilson go in the centres next season. Both bright hopes...Penny a bit further down the road than Wilson but has had a nightmare run with injuries.

Mermoz and Civetta need removing from the squad both gone elsewhere.

Announced this week that England U18s pair Rob Farrar and Tom Marshall have been promoted to the senior academy. Both excellent prospects, taking our senior academy influx to six this summer. They'll all train full time with the first team.

Centres a bit light perhaps, and I'd like another fly-half with top club level experience if possible. I wonder if we'll sign another senior hooker as well since we went into last year with 4 but now there are only 3, unless Blamire will be stepping up.

Yes, Dom is with us, same set-up as last season with Oxford Uni. He’s with us all pre-season.

Looking at the squad, we seem to have replaced like for like the players who have left/retired with mainly younger/EQP players -
Vickers - Logo
Latu - Nagusa
Hogg - Collett/Graham
Lawson - McGuigan
VDM - Arscott
JPS - Williams

Others such as Willis and Mermoz have been replaced by promoting from within the academy with players such as Connon and Penny ready for first team duties

Now that the squad has been confirmed on the Offy, we have obvious depth as long as the academy players impress and and can hold their own when given their chance. I hope that players like Connon or Charlie Wilson aren’t making their debuts against the likes of Toulon. I know it’s worst case scenario but only one or two injuries would mean they wouldn’t be thrust into contention despite never playing in the Premiership

Losing experienced players such as Vickers, Hogg, Latu and Lawson gives others the opportunity to step up as part of the leadership group within the squad but maintaining the continuity within the squad

On the whole the team should be very similar to last seasons which performed so well unless we receive a late surprise

Brocklebank, Payne, Connon, Joel M and Penny all listed with the full squad. Good stuff.

Interesting to see that Josh Matavesi has ben very positive about having "fewer" changes in the squad, with us mostly replacing the ones have gone and promoting the academy lads who have been around the senior squad for a couple of years now anyway.

He said the training has been going very well for that reason and the new comers have been fantastic.

Players like Penny, Charlie Wilson, Radwan, Kibrige in the backs will have much more gametime now and probably feature in more heavyweight Prem games.

Once you have the squad nicely balanced with a mixture of academy players you don’t want a big turn over every season. This is showing that we are retaining our talent much better than in previous years
Of course you still need new players with quality to keep the squad fresh but the core remains there same and you build upon it, our core being Welch, Wilson, Tait, Green etc

I see there isn't any props coming in the academy. Otherwise still looking forward to next season.
